Moving is a royal pain in the butt. painting even more so, but that is self inflicted so I can't complain ^-^

Take lease copy to post office
Arrange walk through for the old place
Finish masking and edge my bedroom, mask the study and maybe do the trim in there? or edge? Hmmm... And the hall. We'll see how it all goes!

Some thoughts and a plan.

I am up early as a result of going to bed early. I slept pretty well considering that it was my first night in the place. A few odd dreams but I don't remember them specifically. I think one of them had me hanging out with Shan? It is starting to feel a bit like 'my' place, but mostly because it is still covered in my mess ;p I think this is gong to wing up being an expensive move - I want to make my house more homey, for real this time. Paint is a start (which is money, supplies are more), I really need to get a desk now, and possibly also another table (incidentally, Hazel, I am thinking of painting mom's brown table, since I'm going to be painting anyway - any objections?) for the kitchen. I also need a new hard drive (luckily I found my windows XP installation cd, wooh)!, and an external hard drive.... Maybe a webcam, I'm undecided. That's another big chunk of money.

More immediately, I need groceries! These are even more easily obtained than before, however, as my house backs on a grocery store. It would be evener more better if there weren't a fence, though!

I am hoping to get paint today, and maybe even do some painting before Exia. I can probably at least start masking things off so that I can really get started tomorrow. I looked at my colours again, and while I still like the over all scheme, I don't think I am married to these specific tones - we'll see. I also need to decide if I should paint inside my closets, and what to do with my doors (currently painted to match the rest of the apartment). And I still need to finish cleaning in the old place. I'll head over there early this afternoon, after lunch and some groceries. i need to get my pantry sorted still.... but I also want to get some kind of paper to line my shelves with, so I don't want to go crazy yet.

My kitchen here is huge, but I think I might actually have less storage space. At the old place, I had an actual pantry to store things, whereas here I just have cupboards. I am also going to need some kind of organizer for my bathroom, where I only have one (admittedly large) cabinet, under the sink. I'll sort it out, anyway - for now i have writing to do. I've barely posted anything for august_writing!

Moving was very easy - took about three hours and four and a half trips or so for four people. The bigass truck really helped! Afterwards there was pizza and beer! The pizza was from Antonio's, which makes it extra win, and it will probably be dinner when I go home. To the new home. The one I hope to keep for the rest of my stay here, anyway.

After lunch, I started unpacking a few things - mostly kitchen and bathroom, i.e. nothing I'll just have to move in order to paint I am looking forward to a house with some colour! Okay, possibly a *lot* of colour, as most of the shades I've picked out for my place are ery bold warm colours - brick orange/red for the living room, with a mandarin orange-y gold for trim and the hall, a nice deep blue kitchen (complimentary colours-ish - also my linoleum is blue :p) and bathroom, a pumpkin pie shade for my bedroom, and a deep green for my study. I doubt martha Stewart would approve but hey, raise your hand if you don't care! :D

So this afternoon I've been cleaning out the old place. I vacuumed the carpets, cleaned the closest and all the cupboards and cabinets, washed the windows (except the exterior where there was a screen because I couldn't figure out how to take the windows out -_- I also cleaned the fridge and spot washed walls and window frames, etc.

Major things I still need to do are:
Oven
Linoleum in kitchen and bathroom
More spot washing of walls
Counters
Sinks

I think that is all of it. Unless I want to start on things like washing all the light fixtures and doing more than a half-assed job at cleaning the mini blinds. Oooh we hates that! Now I have to decide if I want to go get oven cleaner now, or wait and just do that tomorrow. I think I will, though. I'll give it a spray and leave it until tomorrow. It's been a loooong day!

ETA: Fuckin' Texas! It started raining, and *then* it clouded over! Right when I wanted to go (that is walk) home >:P Hopefully it won't last long - I'm getting hungry!

I'm getting better at tearing myself away from the computer, which is a good thing - I'm moving on Saturday! On that note, I got too distracted with gaming and forgot to call Aaron - I'll have to do it tomorrow. And pick up beer and water for peeps helping me move! And finish packing! I'm mostly done, I think, and I'm going to do the bathroom tonight, but I keep finding that I have more stuff than expected, or that it takes up more space than I figured.... Anyway, it'll all be over soon. Tomorrow is going to be a long day, though :o And I have to go up at 5:30 to get my key.

Other than that, today I did a bunch of writing and some research for Pieces, and went to the gym.... Somehow I forgot to do press today though. I'm not sue exactly how that happened. I didn't think f it until i was doing pull-ups and wondering why it seemed like I could counterweight a lot less than usual ;) Ahh well, I'll do it extra hard next week! In my defense, my spotter wasn't there due to a tragic alarm mix up, but that didn't stop me last week...

I *also* tooled around a bit more with Cursed Wreck. I'm really wary of that story, I think. When I can actually make myself sit down and write at it, I like it a lot more and am happier with it. I think I am just nervous about writing something that deals more with canon Mythos stuff, or that it will seem lame or unoriginal... We'll see how it turns out, I guess.

At this point I'm just rambling, so, instead, have a to do list for tomorrow

Get drinks (and possibly more boxes as I go)

Get key (at 5:30... and check carpet colours!)

Arrange for Washer and Dryer delivery next week
Laundry (because hey, I have money on the card...)

Need to start doing more stuff and being more organized! Friday went alright. I got lots of stuff done. I even managed to be productive on Saturday, between work for school and packing. Today I am going to just write, I think. Maybe do some more packing - my closets are still very full. But I really have been neglecting Cursed Wreck.

On that note, it is currently impossible for me to get IRC's in the city. I am going to be in Canada in two weeks, and I think I'll just pick up some stamps then, and send in my story then if I have to - I'd rather do it sooner, of course, so if anyone is willing to send it *for* me, that would be very swell! I'll be seeing you in about two weeks, after all.

Gym first this morning, though. Leg day - I have dropped my weight a lot in order to get my form down better, which I guess is a good thing. Blarg. Sleepy. Full of bees -_- *kills them*

Other things to do:
Set up another driving session with Megan for this week
Set up test for my learner's permit
Arrange to have my power and phone transferred
Figure out how much rent I am going to owe Doux Chene this month for rent
Get some more boxes, possibly from the grocery store - I mostly need ones to hold miscellaneous crap and food at this point. most everything else has been packed. My house would look really bare if it weren't for the boxes :p


Oh, also, I have decided that I want to paint my new place. I am tired of white walls, and I think it wold help give me more of a feeling of permanence. I did some math and I have moved something like nine times in the past six years. Some of those weren't 'full' moves with furniture, but many were, two were transatlantic, one more was also international, and 4 involved moving across a good chunk of continent. I have moved house completely once a year for the last four (including this one). Anyway, I think I am due a little paint on my walls, since I am allowed (as long as I paint back), and since I am planning on staying put for the next three at least. Along those lines, I am thinking of asking people for my birthday this year to, instead of buying me stuff, get me some gift cards to places I can buy house things in the US, to again help me have some feeling of permanence and adulthood. Wooh!

Okay, time to get dressed and finish my tea.

I had a fun time last night, hanging out with daemonnoire, meeting some cool new people, abusing the massage chairs at Linens and things, and watching the new HP flick. I liked it quite a bit, and I think they did a pretty good job at getting across the meat of the book. Also yay lots of Neville! There were a bunch of people behind us who didn't know really anything about HP though, so afterward we had to explain a bunch of things. ("Who was that other chick with them?" "That was Ginny." 'Who is she?" "....") Anyway, this time, I really do hope to hang out with that crowd more - it isn't that I don't love my department friends, I just need opportunities to escape from school sometimes! Expand! Although since I am gong to be working this term, I have no idea how much time I am gong to have for much of anything :x I'll just have to make it somewhere. I don't believe in making school my life. That's just missing the point.

In other news, I have been officially approved for my new apartment, in building 1609, apartment C, which is one of the ones directly facing Anderson. It is going to have new carpets and such, and I'll go in and sign for it and see it next week, so hooray for that! I am going to start moving in on August 4, but I took extra time so that I don't have to rush. Mind you I should probably start packing now - there are lots of clothes, books, etc that i am really not going to need right away. Three week - go!

Also, I believe that tsiankiio is supposed to be in town today, and I am hoping to hear from her and justnukeit this afternoon :D

So, over all, wooh! Now if only I could focus on being academically productive... halfway through July and I've done shit all. Meh.

Well, I pretty much have a place to move in August. i am hoping to move in on the 4th - first weekend. This is both because I am going to be away the second weekend and I am getting back the day before I have to be out, and also to give me some time to make sure I get the place clean and fixed up without rushing, etc.

However, I am a bit anxious because I'm not 100% sure who all i can find to help me move. I am good at offering incentives (free beer and pizza sort of thing), and I will have everything packed well in advance, I'm sure, but I just don't know who all is around and who has vehicles that can help me move the bigger stuff. Maybe I should try and rent a truck for the day or something, and just do most of it myself. Well except that i am moving in to an upstairs apt....

I dunno - there are folks around, I'll just have to figure this out.

This is also reminding me that I need to learn to drive this summer, so I should really get on that ASAP.

In other news, I have booked tickets for TO now - I get in on the 9th at night and leave on the 14th in the am...

So many random people on facebox o_O random people! Some I'm like 'cool!' Others I'm like ...'Why are you adding me? o_O'

In other news, I toured around some apartment complexes today and now need to think a bit. One comes with cable and internets and is significantly cheaper than places around it, but doesn't have laundry. The apartments come with w/d hookups though, and they say they rent appliances. So I could rent or try and find a cheap set. the other place was nicer (and is where Claire lives), but about the same price without the cable and internets. Howeverr they have tile floor in some of the apartments... I don't know if 20$/month is really worth it, though. And they both have reduced rates atm, and units available. i will think about it, and decide by the end of the month.

I started reading King Solomon's Mines today, which has been resting on my shelf for years now... Also i ordered the rest of the fall of Ile-Rien trilogy off Amazon, with overnight shipping since otherwise they would come while I was away and I'm going to need travel books. i also bought a couple of books at Half Price books - a couple of reference history things for the 18th century, and also a cheao hardcover of The Name of the Rose, which I really ought to have rad by this point but haven't :V

I then stopped at Kroger, and bought some foods - organic broccoli soup, some organic mini carrots, and some organic cinnamon applesauce. Sense a theme here? I am thinking about trying to have a new diet - i call it the Anti-catholic diet, where I mostly have vegetarian foods, organic if I can manage it, and then indulge in delicious meats on Fridays :V

After that wandering around in the Texas heat, I went swimming to cool down. Yay pool!

Now it is time for LotA and dinner!
