Stepping out of the woodwork to record a weird dream I had last night/early this morning. I can identify some of the things that prompted it, I think, at least...

Weird dream last night/this morning that I was on a road trip with a bunch of larp peeps. There were 4 or five if us in a black car driven by D. F. He and the person in the passenger seat got out at some place (to do.... something?) leaving myself and A. S. in the back seat. It was a standard and for some reason he'd left it in neutral, and the car started rolling into the street. After a brief moment of 'wait this can't be happening', I desperately tried to get into the driver's seat to stop the car (I was behind the driver's seat). Only when I got there, my glasses were all fogged up and I couldn't see at all what was happening. I managed to get us stopped, but we were in the middle of a street. So I thought that it would be better to try and move off the street or more out of the way (only I still couldn't see well). we'd wound up in the wrong lane and there was an oncoming car that was trying to move around us as I was trying to get back into the right lane... The car was not running, still just rolling in neutral (I'm not sure how we'd gotten it moving again anymore... dream logic!). I somehow got us around the other car, but there was, for some reason, a GIANT (like 20 feet tall) snow bank in our lane, and I gently rolled into that.

At this point, D. and co. returned from wherever they had been to see the chaos that had ensured. he was pretty pissed but I think we gave him shit for leaving the car in neutral and it all balanced out somehow. Also we'd somehow arrived at the little remote chalet that sold fancy larp supplies anyway - we just had to get up the steep snowbank/hill on the side if the road. It was a nice chalet and they had some cool stuff, very little of which I remember. I remember A. caught some shit from one of the proprietors (maybe dream H. I.?) for doing people's nails to test out their nail polish selection? Also they had some cool little enameled metal puzzles and I thought about getting one for Wererogue, but when I was talking to the sales person, it turned out that my 6 yo nephew had been here like three months before and solved them all, even though they were supposed to be super difficult, so I decided maybe they wouldn't pose enough of a challenge. And that's basically all I remember at this juncture :x

I went! It was good! I lived, but several friends did not, so booo :(

We'll see what the future brings I guess :3

Archaeology Day also went really well :) I got several compliments on my tour, which was nice. The last one was huge, though I didn't get a solid head count, if say around 25 people? The stuff they had set up at the museum was cool too - some experimental archaeology folks, a guy with his cool faunal reference collection (skulls), and various other experts.

Okay, it is early, but I'm crashing hard, so good night!

....is tomorrow, wooh!

We're giving public tours of work. And by 'we' I mean me, because I'm the only one who currently works there who can do it.

The ED at the museum sent around a schedule which had me doing 2 tours between 10 and 4, and that seemed reasonable.... but the one that got send out has *four* tours, which is too many, and I never got to see that one. I basically have a 15 min break between them, assuming the don't go over time (I won't have to say as much about the scanning since the museum has coopted that, which I wasn't actually consulted about, really, but whatever.) Anyway, I did volunteer but I would much rather be at the larp event this weekend and it doesn't seem likely that I will get a ride out there afterwards, assuming I even am still keep on that after like 4 hours straight of talking to strangers :p

I did some dyeing tonight for dad's scarf but I'm not super sure about it. a: I didn't mordant because I was under the impression that with walnut it isn't super necessary. b: I didn't leave it as long as I might because one of my dye batches smelled *really* gross (made from moldy walnuts. The one from the walnuts from last year smelled pretty good, actually!) And the yarn did *not* take up the dye well at all. And the old bath was much more exhausted than I thought. Still, I have a light brown and a pale brown and they will still probably make a nice contrast. I just don't know if dad will wear them I guess I'll see what it looks like when it is dry.

I might go right to bed, but I did want to try spinning a little bit each day, for practice and to build up my hand strength. So maybe I'll do that for a bit, and then bed.

FTR: the thing at work *is* really broken, but I didn't have time to try and fix the 3D printer.

I went to the Powwow at the museum today, and it was fun! I mostly wanted to go to some of the workshops and talks and such, but I missed a few of them. I caught the end of the one on the medicine wheel, and the end of the one on traditional harvest stuff. I did catch the whole one on traditional food, but a native dietitian, which was neat, and most of the one on corn as well, and in general I learned a lot throughout the day, which was my goal. The only things I bought were a taco and some quilt raffle tickets for one of the indigenous support services places that has some cool programs.

Then I came home and fell asleep for a while, because it was quiet and I hadn't had tea (and I even survived the day without much of a caffeine headache, wooh!) The kids were having a sleepover, which meant pizza for dinner, and then I did a little bit of RP for Underworld, and a whooole lot of tag modding for Yuletide! We've gone through maybe... 1/3 of the tags, but we start with the easy stuff so that doesn't mean too much. I'll do some more before or after game, or both. But for now, I'm ired and my allergies are acting up (I hope), so it is bedtime!

This was a larp weekend! Technically the next game is in two weeks, but I've already told myself no. I'm going away to Toronto for the weekend with Nary the following weekend, and then back to Toronto with geek girls folks the weekend after *that* (just a day trip though). That's too many weekends away, I think, and too close together. ON the other hand, what's one more? :V

We're on our final storyline for Thirteen, and I'm sad :/ I really liked that game! But I think the GM was finding it hard to sustain, in terms of coming up with stories, and not get sidetracked into worldbuilding. So we're going to go back to Adventure World and do something set in that campaign world's early history. I think it is going to be sort of another kingdom-level game too, like the Scaermar game I was in a few years ago in College Station. We're using the Game of Thrones RPG rules this time, which will be interesting. Our GM is going to need to write up a lot of stuff, so we'll see how that goes ;) Another option that was tossed around was going back to Ashland, but I don't think we have the right mix of players for it, unfortunately. I'm not really sre we have enough players for this new game either, but I guess we'll see.

In non-gaming news.... I bleached the underside of my hair on a whim! Longpig was doing her roots, but since she basically has no hair these days there was a loooot of bleach left over. So hey! Now the underside of my hair is blond. Not platinum blond, because my hair doesn't do that, but really frickin' blond comparatively. I'll try and get a picture tomorrow when it is all dry. Next step - get some good green hair dye, or mix up some green and black, maybe..... I'm going to try and get to Sally Beauty some day after work this week, assuming they are open late enough! Otherwise, it'll be the weekend.

For now though - bedtime! I'm still wrecked from LARP @_@

So this was a larp weekend, and it was completely rad! I spend an hour yesterday crying alone in a cabin I had locked everyone else out of - good times! NO really though, I eman it. I got caught up with a random magical effect that made me think that another character was my dead husband, and then I was SUPER UPSET with him that he hadn't told me he was alive and had just been hanging out workign for one of my in game friends - so of course I was mad at her too :V And other people thought that I thought that I was married to the other character (who is a very orcish orc). After I explained why it was creepy that he wanted to have sex with me when I thought he was somebody else, he later came and apologized for it, which was surprising and awesome too (also all in character orcs aren't generally super discriminating about who they sleep with when the opportunity arises). It was super great RP all around. And that was only one part of my game weekend! I did a sper fun mod and some other character driven RP and I don't think I touched the 'main plot' all weekend.

Today we gave a tour at work for the Archaeological Conservancy of America, which was busy but I think went really well! They all seemed super pleased, even though they were late and we consequently went overtime. I had some transit shenanigans and I wound up getting a drive home from a neighbour, which was very nice of her. And tonight I got to do a solo scene for Diablotin, which is nice because we missed game today and last week. So all in all a great weekend :) And I'm at he stage of the shawl I've been workign on t larp where it is so close to done I can taste it, so I am going to finish it up tonight or maybe tomorrow. And then I'll need another game project...

I got looking at the internet instead of showering or making this post.

Knitting earlier, and before that I went to dinner with two of my friends. It was nice, though the cider I had was not great - bitter.

Work was fine and I finished another project. I'm close to done the third, and can probably wrap it up tomorrow if I buckle down. I want to leave a little early,as I have LARP this weekend, but we'll see, I guess!

Bees. Vicious bees.

And not much in the house for lunches, which has meant buying stuff at loblaws in the morning s the past few days. Yesterday I thought I was doing good by buying a muffin for breakfast instead of a chocolate croissant, but this morning the bakery hadn't restocked yet and I wound up buying day+ old chocolate croissants >.> I ate too many of them. I also bought a mini pot pie and a half pint of raspberries, and the only reason I didn't eat them all was that bees + too much fruit = bad idea.

I am trying to write a blog post for the Day of Archaeology at work, but all I have is short and bland. But there isn't too much going on, so I'm not really sure what to say :p Maybe I'll see if someone else has a chance to look it over.... maybe 'll just give up on it.

Longpig and Wererogue went over to a friends' place this evening, so I managed the smalls. And then I packed, more or less, for LARP. And that's about it?

I actually had some email exchanges with shapers but mostly they left me shaking my head. Did you actually read my background? Did you get my character confused with her daughter? This creepy dream you sent for me to have is really more just sort of bewildering and vaguely unsettling... Anyway, whatever. They have like a million characters to keep track of, I can't really fault them for falling down on the details, I guess? Anyway, it is way past my bedtime, ugh.

I finished my Jukebox! I'm pretty happy with it, anyway, so hopefully my recip (who gave me a blank signup) will like it to! I did have some older letter to look at, but you never know what kinds of things may have changed.

Other than that, work was fine. My meeting was fine. I didn't really need to be there but apparently I can take minutes. Wheee. More importantly, it means I know what's going on with things. And stuff I think actually needs more discussion will have to...keeeeep waiting until the director has time (which he legitimately does not atm). I have a training course next week to learn how to do billing, but honestly I think I've mostly figured it out already :p

Now that I have finished Jukebox, I need to get plotting on my Raksura exchange fic! I have some cool prompts to work with, at least.

I also got some edits back on the wiki entry I wrote for my LARP, which shouldn't take too long to deal with, except I need to name things (Ugh!). I also found out that I *can* go to just part of the next event! Which is to say I am able to get a ride home on Saturday night, so I am happy. Yay having cake and eating it too!
