Yesterday when I realized at almost midnight that I hadn't made a daily Post, my reaction was as above. It still is this morning, if I'm being honest, but is no longer an option. So instead, I'm bundled up in my rain gear on the bus towards work. I don't have any cash, so before I go buy strawberries I need to go to Loblaws and buy something to get some cash back. At least a chocolate croissant, probably a fruit smoothie, and maybe some tea, since I haven't had and today and my work stash is empty of caffeinated kinds. Then market strawberries, the other bus to work. I need to do better there, and be more self driven. I have plans and ideas, I just need to follow through

Definitely caffeine first, though.

I'm home in London again, and I'm up too late, again.

I didn't accomplish too much today, unless you measure your accomplishments in terms of media consumption. I'm into season 4 of Clone Wars, and just about at the end of season 2 Daredevil. Which I have been amusing myself as reading mentally as Dared Evil. Matt Murdoc is a tool; Karen is everything. Frank Castle is also really rad.

I caved and I have decided to do the beading on my shawl. Having never done anything with beading before, I guess we'll see how it goes! I did not thing to bring my Queen Anne's Lace shawl to block which I was there, so it will have to wait a bit longer. Longpig did manage to block her shawl in my room while I was away, and it looks stunning.

I am going to try and write that cover letter tomorrow - really I will, honest! I also need to take pics of stash and upload them to ravelry.

I got tea in the mail! Thank you again, tea angel! The first one I tried was super delicious and just what I had been searching for, yay!

I feel like there is something else from today but I cant think what, so I am just going to go take a shower and sleep in my own bed.

I willlll stay in the habit of posting regularly, I really really will!

Yesterday was just an off day though.

For one thing, I woke up in Houston. I missed my connection in Charlotte because of delays leaving Detroit, and as a result I missed the shuttle back to College Station. I couldn't get on the internet reliably and missed my chance to crash with a friend due to a combination of bad internet, lack of comunication, and impatience. Which is to say that I caved and got a nice and cheap hotel room that had a free shuttle.

So yesterday I woke up in Houston. I caught the shuttle home at 9:15 or so - we actually left early since everyone scheduled to be aboard was there early, which was nice. So I got back home a little after eleven and then had to decide if I wanted to go into work. I ultimately decided yes, because I don't have much sick time left (I had to use sick time for my trip rather than vacation because I haven't been employed at A&M long enough to be able to use the time I've been accumulating :p). Also I had an appointment at the blood drive and wanted to keep that, and it was in my building, so... may as well?


...ETA: Oh it may have been less 'angry liberal ranting' and more talking about delicious food. I want to make garlic fingers again...
So I went in around noon, and gave blood, and went to work for like 3 hours. This was a good call in the end as I don't think I actually had enough sick leave to take a full day anyway. Bleh. At least I'll get some more back in February.

And then we heard that the university was being closed from 8pm to 10am because of the impending ice storm! Woohoo!

We had a gallery opening last night too, for the Ukio-e (Japanese historical prints) show. Attendance was pretty decent considering the weather, really, but I expect I can scam a leftover sammich for lunch today. There were snacks and a guy from the performance studies department playing Japanese flute (very cool to listen to) and then a guy who was talking about/performing parts of sadoo (the way of tea, or what is more commonly called the tea ceremony, which is a misleading name as there are many), which was really super cool! I went with my friend Mara, and we both had tea, which was sort of a mistake because it was after seven and we both have low caffeine tolerance. And powdered green tea (matcha) has hella caffeine :p It was worth it though! I had not actually had matcha tea - it is not my favourite taste, but the experience was still cool. Tea bowls are so pretty :3

After *that*, there was a profit shgare for the GLBT group on campus at Grub, the fancy burger bar. Also the ice storm had started. Fortunately mara is from PA, and has experience driving in questionable conditions and also good tires, so we were fine. Grub was PACKED. Apparently there were two profit shares and a lot of overconfident drivers ;) We got a table easily only because it was just the two of us. Because I'd had sammiches at the event, I only got a bourbon caramel vanilla milk shake (mmmmmmm) and sweet potato fries. Mara had their market burger (a seasonal/limited thing), which was a chicken fried hamburger patty on a handmade biscuit bun with grated cheddar and jalapeno cream gravy. It was delicious, I can report as she let me steal a bite.

Then I came home! I watched another Person of Interest with naryrising (we're up to episode 19 of season 2), and did some writing, and stayed up too late talking to my roommate. Or engaging in mutual angry liberal ranting, though I forget about what now ;)

-e-mail mr. M to say that I don't have the funding atm, to come at the earlier date and am now looking in to later summer dates

-e-mail Cindy to see if she knows about the courses you need to take as an international student to be able to teach? e-mailed ISS
-Look at HIAS and make some rough plans for changing stuff, and try and meet with Kevin and Donny tomorrow?

I am officially getting a cold, booo! At first I thought it was low level dog allergies, but no - it's a cold. Probably because my sleep schedule has been so messed up over the holidays, and I've been sleeping poorly on account of being too lazy to flip my mattress so that the groove I'm wearing in to it is in a different less uncomfortable place ;p

So, I took a bath, even though my water was all dirty again. Baaaath! I think that after it rains, dirt gets into the water, and if my hot water heater gets filled before it is cleared out, i get a tank of dirty water :p Bah! Anyway, by the time I had my post bath shower it was running clear. Now I am having hibiscus tea (made with clean brita-filtered water that was in my nalgene), curled up in bed. That is not just an excuse to use my Iroh icon, but hey, you must admit that it is pretty awesome!

I got lots of stuff done today, including buying an asston of books for my history class, getting a calendar (Futurama!) after failing to find any of above mentioned textbooks at half-priced books (it was worth a look!), paying my tuition, and playing cupcake fairy to the department. Also i think i am done my SHA talk - I just need to look it over tomorrow. And I went to the gym, and took down my Christmas stuff. Rah!

Debating going to bed early tonight, but I had an hour nap (and some cupcakes) after I got *back* from the gym, because that seemed logical somehow ;p too sleepy to read or write, though, so I don't know what else to do!
