I did some things are work today but it was mostly pointless. We got an AED though, and had a little walkthrough on how to use it. Though really it tells you what to do so it isn't so bad.

We ordered from a Korean/Japanese place tonight and it was tasty! Tomorrow I have an errand to run out in the work side of town, so I'll be late getting hme and may wind up just grabbing something while I'm out. And the day after that is knitting, and I'm going to get poutine!

There are Coyotes down by the rover. The river that is across the street beyond a vacant overgrown meadow/lot. There are coyotes basically across the street from my house. I saw one there last yer once, but this was *multiple*. They've been going *nuts* every time there there are sirens. I'll have to be careful when I take the dogs out, though it is usually light enough on either side of the day that it shouldn't be too much of a problem. One of the neighbours is going to call the nature conservancy that owns the river parks, so maybe they can put up signs and warn other people.... There are far too many outdoor cats in this area. I mean with the river right there, I would think it is a bad idea period but the weather has been so mild this past year that the coyotes were pretty much an inevitability. I do think my neighbour is correct that it means there aren't as many people living along the river this year, so that's.... probably good? Assuming it is because they have somewhere else to go!

If you are interested, remind me and I will post a pic of the street so you can get a better sense of the proximities. It's dark out now though. And I'm off to bed!

[personal profile] morbane asked me to talk a little bit about where I am living these days.

I'm in London, Ontario, and there are things I like quite a lot about the town and the immediately local area. It is definitely a chance for the better for me form College Station. The transit system is a million times better... Everyone here complains and I've had some problems, but hey - it exists! Busts run more than every... what, half an hour at best? Just as I was leaving CS was starting to integrate the city transit (pretty laughable) with the university buses some... London is a million times better.

I live very close to the downtown areas, so I am lucky in that regard - the buses might be worse in a more outlying area. There are also some nice little parks around for walking the dogs and taking the kids to when it is nice out. They have walking/biking trails that run though the city along the river and creeks. There is a pretty decent Italian bakery/grocery a few blocks up the street and on weekends I like to take them up and tie them outside, then stop in and get some morning /breakfast snacks. There is a cool looking shut-down pub up that way as well that apparently someone has been trying to reopen since last October. No success yet I guess? I read something that said it used to have a pretty rough reputation, so maybe that's why.

My walk to work it pretty nice, though it is at the opposite end of town. I have to go partly through a conservation area, and there are some old apple orchards right there. I meant to pick some of those apples this fall but I never had enough time/good clothes for it, alas! I'm looking forward to the apple trees being in bloom this summer though. I've seen lots of deer tracks in the snow, but no deer!

What else can I say about London.... it is sort of tin the middle of the little peninsula of Southern Ontario that dips down between the Great Lakes, so I'm in the southernmost bit of Canada, and the climate shows it. In theory being where we are means we get a ton of snow in the winter compared to other cities around us, but that has not been in evidence this winter. I think we have had more relative to our neighbours, but it hasn't been very snowy at all (at least not so far).

I don't know a whole lot of the local history - I think the development of the city is linked to it being a center of military organization in WWI. there were big training bases here I think? I'm trying to remember some stuff from the exhibit I saw last year ;p The town/city was already here, but I do think it got a boost then. This is also a brewery town - big breweries, that is, though I'm sure there are also microbreweries. The Labatts/Budweiser brewery is very close to my house. I can sometimes smell the fermenting grain, which is sweet and cloying and super gross. I already dislike beer and it sure isn't helping!

I feel like I had more I wanted to say but now I can't remember, boo!

My nights are not being any less disturbed. Saturday night the dogs got sprayed by a skunk. Sunday night it was too humid for me to sleep, and I got up to help one of the kids (Nugsy) at 4:00 and it took a while to get him back to sleep. Last night, there was an EPIC THUNDERSTORM with very loud, close thunder. One of the dogs (Sierra) was freaked out. One of the kids (Bubs) was scared when he woke up to pee and the power was out. The cat was up in my room. Nugsy was up early, and the cat was in the kids room ( a concerning combination...) We'll see what tonight has in store!

I actually feel better rested today, despite getting up early-ish. I have some quiet time atm, and I feel like I should be doing Something, but I'm not sure what. I do need to find some part time/temporary work here, as pets are expensive. I did get up to the archaeology museum today to talk to them about volunteering - I'll be going back on the 6th.

Ummm, what else? I've managed to do a little bit of writing - a couple of drabbles. But I feel like more is within my reach! I just need to decide where to focus... I want to finish the last of my last alphabet drabble challenge which was apparently, uh, from last year >.> So that I can do another one guilt free. I feel like starting something new and longer too, though I have some WIPs that need attention - we'll see. I wanted to try getting back into original fic as well, but that requires more solid ideas than I currently have :p

I think I mentioned already that [personal profile] longpig has gotten me going back to the gym? I need to be going at least twice a week, though, and haven't quite managed that. Hopefully we're going tonight though!

I've also been watching a lot mote TV here, for various reasons. Longpig is addicted to masterchef, so we burned through what was available of that, and she was bitter to realize that she's now caught up and can't binge! I've been watching Rescue Bots with the kidlets, which is adorable and I love it. And Hannibal, which hopefully will be picked up, because it really is quite good. And I watched the opening of the new season of True Detective last night which was slow.... but has some interesting potential. I think my favourite character, though, is Vince Vaughn's character's wife. The only main character whose name I remember is... haaa I forget the actress. But the lady cop, whose name is Antigone. Interesting choice thee, parents ;p

Anyway, that's all I've got. Gonna go walk the dogs before supper :)
