I am taking a survey on residential bathroom use. One of the questions is:

"Would you like to have a mini kitchen in your bathroom?"

No!

The parade of October birthdays is underway. i think the 3rd is the day I don't have anyone. Please correct me if I am wrong. It seems A&M also has an October birthday, sheesh! So, happy birthday to.... Danielle, Rogan, A&M, Mary, Megan, Me, and Shaun. I know I am missing some people in there.

This AM: dog park + donuts = win. Jola is still out playin with Mr. Darcy and possibly cooper. Yay!

Hopefully someone is coming to take my old box spring and mattress away.

-came home yesterday, slept all afternoon (2:30-5). Went to bed at 10:30 as i was still sleepy, after tidying house because I couldn't concentrate. Ugh. Woke up at 8 am. Still kinda sleepy today. ETA: and now it is raining, so that's probably why :p

Must finish Mongols! (My-my-my-my Mongols!)

Would like to hear from [livejournal.com profile] earis hint hint!

I saw a girl on the bus yesterday who was wearing a short sleeveless dress, or possibly some kind of tubetop and shorts? She had a large bookbag on her lap, and the way she was sitting, with her arms and legs crossed, it looked like she was naked and trying to hide her shame with the bag. I wasn't convinces she wasn't until i stood to get off the bus and passed her.

Waaaaaaant! Also waaaaaaaaaaant!

I went to Muldoon's coffee house today. They have been open for all of five days,. the staff are friendly, but slow, as they are still figuring things ut. The interior was quite nice. i had a tasty brownie frappe, but couldn't finish it because I have finally met the slice of cake large enough to defeat me. it was literally 1/6 of a 3-tier frosted cake. Italian cream cake. It was *delicious*. Half of it is sitting in my fridge, pointing and laughing at my weakness. I am plotting my revenge, but it may have to wait until tomorrow. Or at least, much later tonight. :x

Mongols are awesome.

I want to buy new running sneakers, but I can't find a chart anymore to tell me which kind is good for what kind of feet. Or is that no longer en vogue? Oh, never mind, I managed to find it on the 'Zappos classic' view :p The question is - will they still have that info in the show descriptions, hmmmm....
Still not entirely sure which I need, but hopefully whatever I go with won't make my toes fall asleep after 10 min on the elliptical :p

Sometimes it is filling out the info on semagic that makes me remember to turn on music. This is one of those times.

I dug holes this morning.

I also watched a parade of some ladies who are purported by some (Donald Trump?) to be the most beautiful women in the world universe.

Now, I am sitting in a beautiful cottage on a gorgeous and remote tropical island, lounging in my underwear.

In a little while, I am going to go to one of the most beautiful natural beaches in the world, to swim and nap on the beach before I come back for an afternoon/evening of paperwork, hanging out with two other really cool ladies who are also hanging around in their underwear at the moment.

There will be more beautiful women at the beach, flouncing around in bikinis in turquoise water bounded by soft pink sands...

Wish you were here?

P.S. - we watched Star trek *and* Star Wars last night (A New Hope). Life is grand.

I have sacrificed an earring to the couch. I'm not sure what this will get me, though. I liked that earring.

I am contemplating buying a camera. Possibly I can convince INA to buy a camera, and use it. but then it would be INA's camera. But cameras are expensive. Hrm. I want a cannon. I want a camera I don't have to keep closed with duct tape. And also a camera whose battery charger may be somewhere between here and Wales, but also may not be. My current camera is none of these things.

I have realized that with the base map I am using for my GPS, it is going to think I am in the water when I am at Harbour Island. This could be confusing.

I....am sleepy. Excite. I want a nap and to do nothing but write tonight, but I don't expect things will play out that way. well, maybe the nap.

I have forms. So many forms. I have them in binders. I need to put my office supplies purchases in to my budget. Organization, I can has it. but first.... a nap.

Today my boss is leaveing for his field season. He wished me well this season, and also told me I was one of the best TA's he's ever had. I am flattered! However part of me keeps thinking 'really?' and wondering what was wrong with the rest of 'em :o

In other news, for some reason, at school with this new connection, the TAMU pages all load super slowly. This is not true of any other sites. So I guess it gives me an excuse to look at/update lj while I'm waiting for my e-mail to load? Maybe it is a time-of-day thing, but it is odd.

Something like half my peeps here left over the weekend. School is dead :/

I have a week to finish and submit my permit application. Wish me luck!

I also need to mail stuff to other peeps, and get some new camping gear. I need a new air mattress for Buttermilk!

I may add more random stuff to this throughout today, as I am a slave to google translate for the rest of my time here. Whee!

An article claiming to explain why Liberals and Conservatives don't get along flashed across my friends page today.

It basically breaks morality down in to five precepts:

Harm/care. It is wrong to hurt people; it is good to relieve suffering.

Fairness/reciprocity. Justice and fairness are good; people have certain rights that need to be upheld in social interactions.

In-group loyalty. People should be true to their group and be wary of threats from the outside. Allegiance, loyalty and patriotism are virtues; betrayal is bad.

Authority/respect. People should respect social hierarchy; social order is necessary for human life.

Purity/sanctity. The body and certain aspects of life are sacred. Cleanliness and health, as well as their derivatives of chastity and piety, are all good. Pollution, contamination and the associated character traits of lust and greed are all bad.

The general answer is that liberals and conservatives value different aspects of this. I'm not sure I agree with this - I'm not convinced that you can neatly divide and separate them when you are looking at specific issues. For example, the article says that Liberals generally are most concerned with the 'harm' impulse, but that Conservatives aren't. However, it later brings up abortion, and says that it is a touchy issue for conservatives because of their concern with the 'purity' impulse - essentially because of their believe in souls and the sanctity...of.... life? How is this different from harm? I would think that attitudes to abortion show that harm certainly *does* register as an important concern for conservatives, in certain contexts at least. Its not so neat as first appears.

Despite some misgivings, however, it is an interesting notion, and potentially useful if used carefully... Obviously I thought it was worth sharing :V

I did no work last night, but attended a cool lecture on the Vasa's sailing rig.

Then I biked to the bank, and stopped at the kebab place to pick up dinner, and biked home. Its a decent round trip, but I mostly stick to the sidewalks because it runs along some of the major streets (University and Texas), and by the time I was actually headed home it was well in to dusk.

Then i ame home and messed about on the internet, and completely forgot to tell my Underworld peeps that I had been listening to Olaf (okay really Olof) talk about ships all night. Ahh well, I'm sure my weak witticism will not be greatly missed ;p The kebab was mostly delicious, though I think one of the ends was a bit off.

Then I started reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which finally arrived. I don't know of the casual zombie references and random violence will be enough for me to suffer through the Austen (sorry [livejournal.com profile] tethys123 -_-) , but we'll see. I don't find the dialog very accessible, but 'm not sure if that is the rewriting, or just because I don't know the period very well. Or language has sifted just enough to confuse me in parts. I don't know if anyone would care to listen, and have no place to host the files anyway.

I should be heading in to school tea, but this mug of tea seems bottomless!
