Having just made a video post, I can now say thins without looking like I am ragging on anyone else, but look like a hypocrite instead,. yay!

Does anyone else sometimes feel like posting links to funny videos is the more modern version of mass-mailing 'funny' stories to everyone in your address book?

Sometimes I feel that way.

HELLO THE INTERNETS DO YOU NOT THINK THIS IS FUNNY TOO HAHA!

In an unrelated observation, it always amuses me to watch what people do on rainy days when they have umbrellas and are passing under the pedestrian underpass. Mostly the will not actually retract their umbrellas, but will make sure they are pointed ahead of them so that.... I don't know why! So that people will realize they know it isn't needed? It is amusing!

...I thought I posted this ages ago. Well, apparently not.

Have some tentacles.

For some reason I can no longer see individual images on flicker, and therefore can't hotlink to them. well screw you then :p

Here is a facebook link. jerks.

So, yeah, dyed my costume, looks great! And now I need to redo my mask -_- I closed it in the closet door, so it is cracked, and also there is a bit of black paint that came off one of the snaes on the nose. So, if anyone has any suggestions on that front I'm open - same style? More pale gold? Less? different colours? No yellow sign on the forehead? Your input, give it to me :V

Right, back to actual work -_-

ETA: made some slides, and back to costuming :p I gt the black paint off the nose with some nail polish remover, and taped the crack. I might still try and redo it, but if I don't have time, I'll survive :x I also did some snake painting touch-ups, and I may mess with them tomorrow am or pm.

Now to finish off Tonga!

Thinking about how I am going to do this thing! I already made my mask - I cut a triangle out below the nose so that my mouth won't be covered..... I'll be wrapped in scarves anyway. It is a sirt of bone grey with gold accents and a pale/washed out gold yellow Sign on the forehead.

As for the rest of the costume, initially I was thinking one giant bulky robe belted at the waist.

Now I am considering more layers, especially as the fabric is thin and a bit translucent. So one large but not ridiculous hooded robe with long bell sleeves, a tabbard over that. Scarves for my face and some extra drapey bits for the arms. I'm not going to hem anything, but slash it all unevenly with a razor blade and fray it for the tattered look. having the extra tabbard will help with this.

Hazel reminded me that I should have tentacles. I was thinking of just making black fabric tubes and stuffing them, but now I'm wondering whether I could get latex tentacles or similar somewhere for cheap-ish. Either way, i'm either going to make a skirt of them, or an over the shoulder harness. They should peek out the hem and tears in the robe.

I'm thinking about makeup. I have a mask, but I want to do make-up underneath for when it inevitably becomes too hot to wear. What should I do? All black to pop under the mask? Mottled grey-green with blue and purpley splotches/veins like bloated creepy flesh? should I do the same or different on hands and face? I bought hideous green nail polish for a buck that I thought about using if I can find some good nails. should I use that? Gold maybe, to go with the bone/gold mask? Traditional black? I have sparkly blue, bright opalescent purple, red, and some neutral shades :p I can always mix too.

So, apparently, this.

I am going to the one in Dallas, because I can, In fact people from my dept had pretty much pre-arranged for me to attend before I even knew about it (which is to say, Claire and Ryan were conspiring about it, and let me know there was room in the car. Yay them!)

So the only remaining question is.... Who/what should I dress as? Who could I pull off given my limited funds and time?

Speaking of dressing up, I am dressing up for school tomorrow because I missed the party this weekend. I realize now that the reason I missed the party is because my Geisha costume is cursed. I've never made a Hallowe'en party I've intended to wear it to, though I have successfully worn it to other things. I call this, in retrospect, The Curse of the Silver Kimono, which is a hell of a title, I think.

Also, damn, I forgot to by plain black flipflops when I was at Wallmart not buying a transformer. Ahh well - if I'm feeling ambitions I can run up to Target later.

Time to do some reading, then work on lab report and a million other things and maybe make these cookies!
