Thinking about how I am going to do this thing! I already made my mask - I cut a triangle out below the nose so that my mouth won't be covered..... I'll be wrapped in scarves anyway. It is a sirt of bone grey with gold accents and a pale/washed out gold yellow Sign on the forehead.
As for the rest of the costume, initially I was thinking one giant bulky robe belted at the waist.
Now I am considering more layers, especially as the fabric is thin and a bit translucent. So one large but not ridiculous hooded robe with long bell sleeves, a tabbard over that. Scarves for my face and some extra drapey bits for the arms. I'm not going to hem anything, but slash it all unevenly with a razor blade and fray it for the tattered look. having the extra tabbard will help with this.
Hazel reminded me that I should have tentacles. I was thinking of just making black fabric tubes and stuffing them, but now I'm wondering whether I could get latex tentacles or similar somewhere for cheap-ish. Either way, i'm either going to make a skirt of them, or an over the shoulder harness. They should peek out the hem and tears in the robe.
I'm thinking about makeup. I have a mask, but I want to do make-up underneath for when it inevitably becomes too hot to wear. What should I do? All black to pop under the mask? Mottled grey-green with blue and purpley splotches/veins like bloated creepy flesh? should I do the same or different on hands and face? I bought hideous green nail polish for a buck that I thought about using if I can find some good nails. should I use that? Gold maybe, to go with the bone/gold mask? Traditional black? I have sparkly blue, bright opalescent purple, red, and some neutral shades :p I can always mix too.
