I slept in, predictably. I was gogn to try and go to bed earlier but we just had to take the dogs otu because one of them was having tummy issues. HOpefully she's settled down for the evening, but considering she is in my room, I'm not convinced. Sorry, Sierra, when I do go to sleep, youre getting evicted.

I finished reading Namesake earlier this evening - what there is posted, anyway. I really enjoyed it! The general premise is that there are people called Namesakes, and they share the names of people in fairytales and other iconic stories. They go to different worlds and live through the stories there. There are various secret organizations dedicated to helping or hindering these people through various forms of magic. Emma is a secial namesake, and she winds up in Oz, even though she isn't a Dorothy. It has really nice art, good characters, lots of queer characters and characters of colour (including Emma), and a really complex storyline. Also part of it is set in Toronto :D I got into it because Persianpenname starting writing fic for it :3

Other than binging literally all day on webcomics, I have managed to moooostly finish my space swap. I need to finish up this very last scene, which I might poke at a it more efore sleeping, and decide if that's sufficient. I hope the recip enjoys it!

Captain America Diary Comic. It is on The Tumblr, so you may have already seen, but just in case!

So some of you know that I have long been a fan of the Insecticomics - really well executed picture comics involving hilarious, meta-y Transformers action figures. It continues to be awesome, and incorporates many things I love, including references to TF stuff of all flavours in one big hodgepodge, blatant 4th wall breaking to comic effect, comic effect 4th wall breaking used for plot purposes, references to fandom and fanfic, and robot non-gender issues (or no-issues, as you prefer) :V

Well, the girl who makes them recently started a new comic as well, called Harbourmaster (link goes to the first comic, since it is still fairly new, but check out the other pages as well). It is graphic art, a page at a time, 2 updates per week, and often with an art update as well to round things out. The story is sci-fi futuristic, with hermaphroditic aliens, humans of various stripes, and a local insectoid population. I really like the way she characterizes people, both in writing and graphically. It is a lot more serious than Insecticomics, but I am enjoying it quite a lot, and since it is a small comic, I thought it deserved some pimping.

She also posts her updates for both comics, as well as character art and so forth, at her Deviant Art page.

For anyone on my list who is a Transformers fan, and who reads TF comics... and who *hasn't* picked up All Hail Megatron 1-3 (of 12) in some format or other.... WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

I spent pretty much the entire day reading Hitman. I started last night (maybe a few issues earlier, but I think yesterday), but got through most of it today. It was as good as I remembered, and now I've finally seen the end, though I knew, basically, how it went. So apparently my fiction binging is very comics oriented - I still need to finish Treason's River, which is the third of the martin Jerrold books, which anyone who is a fan of Flashman should check out, especially if they are also a fan of Napoleonic era fiction, or naval fiction.... It's a good time.

I decided that since I missed the fact that yesterday was Friday, I would treat myself to some Wendy's. i walked out to get it. It was a nice night. Sometimes, walking at night makes me feel invincible. It is a thing I'm not sure I can explain. Sodium streetlights grant me special powers of Awesomeness. I rule the city. I own it. Tonight was one of those times. Alas it was a shot walk. I came back in, bursting with energy and music (incidentally, someone *must* do a shimmy routine to the Green Hornet theme), and played with Samson.

Now I am hyped up on diet coke, and I'm out of Hitman, and I am a little cabin fever-y, and I want to go *outside* more but i don't have a real reason to go, nothing to do, nowhere to go. I don't love this place enough that a walk for walking's sake would be enough.

Too much caffeine, probably. Too much Story.

And damnit all I want my people back!

Tomorrow, however, I must finish my SHA talk. I need to make sure I have everything in there that needs to be, and then cut it down. How anti-climactic! I want to live in a bigger world!

Term is done. This means a fiction binge. This year, I started out with Warren Ellis's Transmetropolitan, which is kind of like Gonzo journalism in The Future. It was fucking fantastic. I read all 60 issues in two days.

Alas, I cannot see the moon. Samson is wuffing adorably in his sleep. He now lives under my papasan chair. I am hoping that I will be able to settle down soon and create rather than consume fiction. It has been too long since I've had a chance to write in more than ten to twenty minute bursts. i have things that need to be typed. I have a conference paper to compose.

What I really want to do is throw things and swear at people until I discover a Truth that can help start the world changing for the better. If only. If only!

My paper is pretty much done. I need to fidget and format and proofread, and print. Oh and write and translate an abstract, but that won't take long. First to the gym though! And then to the ship lab. Wheee!
