I don't know if I want it, or just want a pretty bald man to put it on and do bad things to...

Over the last couple moths, I've run into various bits of information on bananas - for one thing about how there is a blight affecting the Cavendish, currently, and it isn't expected to last a whole lot longer as a variant. Ahh monoculture, how foolish you are.

One of these informations, an NPR show all about bananas and some banana connoisseur, who talked about how there are actually a lot of different tasty bananas available but they aren't really on the commercial market for sale in stores... I dunno what they do with them though ;p Possibly some are used for banana flavourings or other non-fresh-fruit purposes.

Anyway, knowing that our current banana is doomed and hearing good things about other types, I decided to pick up a bunch of *red* bananas, as I see them in the stores here quite often.

They're really good! I looked them up on wikipedia, and what it says seems generally true, save that mine are from Ecuador, not Costa Rica. They're creamier (oh so much more deliciously creamier) than the Cavendish, are a bit pinkish in the flesh, and have a very slight berry-ish taste/aftertaste. I am pleased with my purchase, A++, would buy again!

In other news, I submitted my stuff to get reimbursed for my trip and on the way home, I decided to go to Goodwill. Okay, the bus that goes down that way came before mine did, and since Jola is at the vet (no puppies for her!) I figured it wouldn't hurt. I came away with 4 dresses, a pair of shoes, a pair of shorts, and a cool brass box with a glass top. Score! I may wind up giving one of the dresses to longpig when I see her in August unles I really fall in love with it before then. It is green, and while it fits and looks good on me, I think it might be better on her.

So, I need a to-do list to keep myself on track today

I already went to the gym
Still need to shower.
I need to make cupcakes
I need to get some groceries (including stuff for cupcakes)
and do some online banking

I'd like to do some more reading
and some filing
See if LeeAnne will take me driving again
Finish the last disc of Utena with Miss Claire, see if she needs cleaning help
Oh, and maybe clean the bathroom

Yesterday, I went shopping, so here is another list - a list of things I got!
A black racing back speedo for swimming. Though I still want a nice two piece, I can't afford both, alas.
Two dressy short sleeve shirts that I have to unbutton the sleeves to fit over my biceps (aww yeah)
A pair of brown linen (<3) cargo shorts
A sundress. Because I can never have enough sundresses.

That is all. I would like to have a bit if a nap though in there. Maybe now, hmmmm....

Shoes have arrived, fit, and are comfy :D

Also look, the look good with the dress!

Also, on a whim i tried on my prom dress and I am wearing it! It may not be 100% street legal on account of sideboob, but it isn't indecent. it is definitely wearable. I think I still have the lace shawl too :o

[I should say that I'd meant to, and though I had, posted this around 5... whoops! I am obviously not still wearing my prom dress :V I am still reading though, or, more accurately, reading again.]

I finaly ventured in to the Asian food store that is just down on the corner from me. It is quite large, and has all kinds of crazy stuff 9Including happy panda snacks in strawberry as well as chocolate, I'll note). I decided to go in because I had to get sme groceies, which mostly consisted of rice and pineapple, and maybe bread, and it was closer than going to albertsons. I also wanted to see what kinds of other neat stuff they have. Which is lots of stuff! They also have dishes, and i had to stop myself from buying things I didn't need. Instead I got 20lb of brown rice for 10$, and a can of pineapple chunks for 99cents, woot! The guy at the counter also gave me an awesome free calendar and told me to come back next year ;) I am pleased! I am now wishing I had a good Asian cookbook, though.

Alas the shirt I had seen at goodwill and wanted to get was gone, but I did get the shiny silver pants. I think they will look slick with my corset. And some kind of as-yet-unknown top, hmm...

Now I write until I run out of ideas and then go back to stratigraphy stuff, woot.

I left here around 2:30 or so, I think. I walked to the library and dropped off a load of books. Next stop was the gym. I did 20 lengths, wooh! Not bad as I haven't been swimming in close to a year :p Or possibly more. Anyway I tend to take a break for water and breathing ever 5 lengths, but my goal is always to lengthen that interval. I hope to start goi g ever day or so. Hey why not!

After that I walked home (all walking today was done in my shiny new sandals which hardly gave me blisters at all ^-^). I was watching the fish n the stream and a guy came over and asked me if my name was Rachel. It was an odd interaction. He was young-ish, but kind of pretty. Bizzare. Anyway, I dropped off my guy stuff and went a walking the other way - out to the grocery store for a few necessaries. On the way I stopped at my Sister's Closet, which is kind of like an expensive second hand shop. I bought two dresses - a long pink crinkle silk dress, and a short and super cute yellow sundress. In a size 8/9! Woot! I also only weighed ~150 at the gym, which always comes as a surprise. I almost fir into a size 8 dress at the store, but my boobs and hips are just too womanly for such a small little number.

Anyway, I then walked to the store and spent too much money because they had meats on sale, and walked home. All in all I've been gone for like 4 hours, which I count as a success as far as getting out of the house goes :) Now I am eating junky store food for dinner, yum, chicken tenders and ranch dressing/dip ^-^

Oh yes, and also I apparently forgot to pack clean panties when I went to the gym, so I have decided to eschew them for the day ;) I am naughty, but hey, I'd just showered, and at least I didn't try on any pants ;D
