Went up to Dallas with Claire and Ryan to see the pre-screening of the new Battlestar Galactica movie, Razor. This tells the story of Apollo's first EXO on Pegasus, with lots of flashbacks about what happened on that ship following the attack. It's good, it has some interesting characters, gives some interesting details about what happened with Pegasus, some of the choices that were made, and why... And yet it also has some really interesting new plot-furthering informations that should be important for next season. I was glad to have gone, even if the three of us were the only ones dressed up except for one borderline bonkers fanclub organizer, who really gave the impression that he was in to it to be the king of his little corner of the geek world.
Anyway, I enjoyed it, but am also a little miffed that there is some extra half hour of stuff (including integration of the clips they've been showing during Flash Gordon and on the web) that will be included in the DVD release. Really, were they not confident people would buy it on their own? Do they think this will somehow prevent people from torrenting the dvd release once it is out? Seriously, what's with that? Dicks.
Another minor gripe is that they had a tone of commercials both before the movie, and during an intermission... and 90% of them were for Mass Effect. And the showing itself had some slightly disconcerting hard cuts where regular commercials should have gone. I'm not unused to such things from watching downloads, but it was more jarring on the big screen. That or the people who make good torrents do a more effective job at softening them.
Claire and I make good Viper pilots. I now have a 'Starbuck hoodie'. Ryan's Apollo costume is pretty kickass. Eventually there will be pictures posted.
I hate ants, especially the ones swarming over my desk this morning. I am working from the front room instead of the study, and it is non-optimal.
