I never thought about it, but I came across the definition in the maritime dictionary that Ceiridwen gave me, and it mentions that the Libra sign ascendancy begins on the autumnal equinox when the length of the day and night are equal. I guess Aries starts on the spring... Anyway.

In more important matters - I am looking for suggestions of good streaming audio or podcasts to listen to whole I work, because I feel out of touch with the world and would like to have good informed information about various international, Canadian, and US issues, probably in about that order. Anyone anyone?

Maybe CBC radio? I'm not too familiar with them myself, but I'm sure they have some kind of streaming audio or podcasting.

I am currently listening to a podcast of From Our Own Correspondent and I listen to The World Service and radio four streams all the time :)

For music I listen to the Magnatune classical or mostlyclassical.com streams on iTunes. If you haven't got iTunes definitely download it as there are loads of stations you can stream :)

I just grabbed a bunch of things off of CBC - I'll check out your other recs though, thanks :D I figured you'd know some good places.

And I have got itunes already, so hooray!

The Savage Love podcast is the best ever. Not very informative on politics though.

I'll second the escapepod recommendation above.

If you're looking for news, http://www.democracynow.org/ does a daily hour long podcast. Their main focus is US, but there's a lot of international news as well.
