Happy turkey day, Americanos!

Not that the pilgrims were the first European settlers in what was to become the US, not by a long shot...

There were Spanish in Florida and the Gulf, and other places, well before them.

Oh, and Jamestown, can't forget them, though they were only about what, 10 years or so earlier?

I suppose we can ignore the Vikings and any Basque whalers because they were up in Canada.

Oh, and of course the fact that there weren't actually *any* Americans until 1776, and even then, historians have demonstrated that the Revolution happened during a period in which he colonists self-identified most strongly as British. That's *why* they were so miffed about their lack of representation, see?

And also, finally, I guess we'll just overlook the 'Native Americans' that were here first, and who were abused by the pilgrims, and still fed them and kept them from death despite the fact that it wasn't really in their best interests. And who were the Christians in that exchange? Of course, we discount their presence here for the previous few thousand years because the Indians aren't really American...

But this just all goes to show how much traditions can evolve. Who really thinks Thanksgiving is about anything than having a big meal with the family and being grateful that everyone can pretend to get along for a few hours in exchange for free food?

Enjoy the white meat, suckers ;p
