Granted, staying up until 1:30 to watch all of master And Commander is not the wisest thing I've ever done. But I needed to watch *something* to christen my video capability.

and...and... and.... ships! :)

Also, I don't have to be anywhere until 11.

Well, I've been home since about 13:30, and have accomplished very little. I've done dishes, and am now sitting down to lunch. I need to do laundry, adn to read a bunch more of The Great Nation, A.k.A the France book. I shoudl also like to get started on makign a *real* outline for my thesis, because it will help give be a better idea of what all I need to do. I'm starting to get an idea of how I need to expand the material I've already got on piracy, and how I might want to integrate bits. However, I fear that my history section is goign to be a little sprawling. We shall see how things all work out. I need to set up a meeting with my thesis committee at some poitntoo... somepoint near the end of the month-ish. I have talked to Dr. Ewen and Dudley, which leaves Carl and Babits. It's going to be an adventure, I tell you :p

The more important thing that I need to accomplish today is communication with my beloved sister, whose birthday it is. We were planning to use Google Talks. People who don't have this should really consider it: it's a great progeram. I just talked with fishy, and it was pretty awesome. Handsfree, cost-free communication! If you get it, I am Elanya, or that is the name to use to find me, rather. you already know who I am, presumably ;) All you need is a microphone and speakers :) Anyway, sales pitch aside, I want to talk to Hazel, but I don't know when she will be around ;_; I guess I will try to check back here regularly to see if she's online :o However, I stayed up too late last night, so I may well fall fast asleep when I get to the France Book -_-

Well, that's enough random chatter for today, I think.

But it escapes my tired brain -_-

So, yeah... we're havign this debate about the nature of historical arcaheology in class. I really tend to thik of it as applying to a method rather than a period, but I'm not in the majority,.... Not alone though, I know ;) But one of the things people were saying to debate me was that not all arcaheologists who work with historical materials consider themselves historical arcaheologists, or what they do to be historical archaeology. People especially like to use Egyptology, because, well... Egyptologists at least have a reputation for being pretty insular. So... I went on the internet, and I found one, and I asked. So we will see what they *really* think! Ha!

I also had a realizatin last class that I am one of *those* graduate students. One of the people who is loud and aggressive during class debates. I just really *enjoy* it... and also, I've been trained for it. My first term of university, I was put into a tutorial with the dean of arts, in order to have the kinds of class discussion that a lot of people don't get into until their uper years. I'm lucky, and I just hope I'm not *scary*. Or mean. :o I don't wanna be mean. But it does fill me with a kind of manic excitement when I get to debate like that.
