Today,
sorceror asked me about games I have run! Well technically he asked me first if I had run any, but I certainly have! I'll try to remember what happened to them all...
The first game I ever ran was actually a Mage: The Ascention campaign, because I loved the game concept and didn't think I would be able to get anyone else to run it for me to play. Was this crazy? Quite possibly. I forget if I was still in highschool or if it was early in my university career - somewhere in the late-ish 90s. I think this one died because I consistently had trouble getting people together, for various life reasons. I had... three players ti begin with and I think another who joined later? Vess played Ethan, a street kid....Euthanatos? Hollow One? I forget now. Xpharan played Matt Cash, a cultist of Ecstacy, Fritzleonhard played Jules - I forget what his tradition was but her was basically post pulp fiction Jules ;) I think Delirium'sEdge played.... someone... I forget >.> And I think
longpig joined in at some point with Lenore... Maybe. My big takeaway from that game was actually an NPC, Daniel Graves, who I then uses in an online RPG (NuRPG), for years and years, and then also gave his own (sadly abandoned) writing serial, Pieces.
I've run two changeling campaigns, both of which I saw through to completion. The first was set at a freehold in the south (Louisiana, I believe?) called L'Ombre Sauvage. This is probably the one I remember the least well, though it did spawn the Cthulhu Horse. I remember Coristine played a Knight in the first stages of Bedlam. Xypharan played a Sidhe name Drey, but had to drop out at some point - cue all the "did you forget about Drey!" jokes >.> I think maybe fooDave played in it for a bit too? I know I had
shanmonster,
longpig, and Delirium's Edge, and at one point, it was just the four of us and I marveled that I was running a game pretty much all for other girls. This was, I *think*, the summer before I went to Sheffield?
The second changeling game I ran after I came back from Sheffield. It was an Unseelie game, following up on stuff set in the C-Verse (a shared universe spawned by a campaign originally run by ladyiolanthe). Basically it was a bunch of Unseelie fae trying to make it out alive from the deep dreaming after their side had lost a big war. It was terrible and fun, and spawned some great characters and memorable events and lines. It had the Woe Kitten and getting voted off the kitted, it had Welcome to Bird's Ass, it had the introduction of Seek, who I later recycled into a Yuletide story. I had another story with him and Pretentia's character, Ivy, but I can't find the link right now :( There was a lot of ridiculousness (I do birthdays!), and zanyness (ninja coupons), and terrible things. It was a lot of fun! It started out as a big game, but all things considered we had a lot of character attrition. This had the usual suspects - Longpig, Delirium's edge, Shanmonster. Also Pretentia, Balthcat... We had ladyiolanthe for a bit (she had to leave town IRL), and also Pretentia's jerkface ex (voted off the kitten). In the end they released a powerful evil mage in to the world. he got them home, and gave them each a wish. Most of them went for one form or other of immortality, but Shan's character, a Satyr, wished for an ever full flask of whiskey. Gotta have priorities, man!
I ran another C-verse offshoot game while I was in the UK, but this one was Vampire! I took the future setting for C-verse (dystopia with evil mages running the church, hunting all other supernatural creatures), and explored form a non-changeling perspective. I think it was the first time I'd run a game for all dudes, now that I think of it! Some of my players are still around here I think - waves to
chairman_mat, and possibly
chiv. That game ended because I had to go back to Canada, basically... In retrospect, I could and should have ended it a little less 'rocksfall, everyone dies'. I let people make poor decisions and the consequences were all pretty dire. I think Hugh's character got the best super tragic ending though - he went in to torpor (vapire sleep forever!) just as the love of his life was waking up.... there was some kind of curse on them where only one could be awake at a time, as I recall.
The only other campaign I ran was a mini-campaign where everyone was a gnome. Balthcat still pokes me to follow up on this one! The basic premise is that humans had been magically isolated from the rest of the (fantasy) world, but recently some of those barriers has started to break down. So there were humans with early 19th century level technology suddenly in a world with orcs and druids and gnomes and such. The party was a bunch of gnomes who had been on their way to a market festival, and found a lost and very confused human ranger who was being hunted by orcs. They helped him and kept him safe and helped figure out what was going on in the world. There was definitely room for follow up! maybe someday, cat. Maybe someday....
Those are all the campaigns I have run, but I have run a bunch of other games as well. I've helped with various Camarilla larps, and I've run oneshots at cons - mostly at Webercon for the past... holy crap... four years. Wow. I've run two one-day larps (one based on Diablotin, one based on C-verse), and another one shot changeling based on that macro about teddy bears protecting children while they sleep. It was orphanage toys who had to help a fledgling, basically, and it was adorable.
The group I game with down here has also run some games that are more round-robin style, so I have run some sessions and storylines for them. The longest was a storyline in our old Scion game, where I introduced some Maenads and a Scion of Dionysus. Which reminds me that i think I still owe
fishmalk a story....
Well - that got long! But here is your regularly scheduled reminder that I still have open slots! On DW|On LJ
