Search Engine ran a story on Shannen Rossmiller this week - I'd seen the article (linked from *someone* on lj, but I forget who. The story really fascinates me. I think that lady is pretty awesome. It is interesting to see what someone can do from the internet, and also highlight how underestimated it is as a tool and a resource for these kinds of things... But the lady herself just impresses me, with not only her drive to try do what she can to help stop terrorist acts - to stop *real* terrorism, not the phantom jumping at shadows stuff that the governments like to flail at madly - but all the work she put in to actually carrying it off, so successfully. I hope that the media attention she has gotten won't put her in any trouble, and that if she is still active in this kind of thing (and I get the impression she is) that she's got some decent online security measures :o
(I also have to admit that I had a character who did this kind of thing in a game once... Which is partly why the fact that someone is actually doing it had captured my attention so much!)
