And happy Mabon if you swing that way :)

I had a crappy Thursday for no apparent reason, and then a great Friday. Today looks pretty good so far as well :) Yesterday I finished sorting out my data and made some of the tables I need (Got the big one fixed up, anyway) and today I'll make some smaller subsidiary tables for my ceramics appendix.

In non-diss news, I am knitting my first ever pair of socks with yarn my sister bought me for that purpose last year. I'm an occasional crafter - I enjoy it, but it is just one more thing to fit in to my schedule. The socks are getting done a lot on the bus, except now I am at the heel bit which will be an adventure! If it is an adventure in failure, I will put the one I've started on to stitch holders and start on the top of the second one and bring them to a more competent knitty friend for help later.

Speaking of competent help, I just had to wander away from this to deal with a bread emergency! i was trying to make bread in the breadmaker, but apparently that is not in the cards and I just had to knead by hand so now it is rising and hopefully won't mess with the timing too much for my afternoon plans. Also my arms are tired, whew! I am also making from-scratch chicken soup from a chicken I crock-potted the other day. That's coming out well, at least :)

Later this afternoon, I have nebulous plans that include going to the big woodsy park with Jola and a friend for a Mabon picnic (this is what the bread was for, see, plus apples and cheese and wine or cider), possibly going to visit my friend who just had her first baby on Monday, and possibly going to goodwill because I am a Rock Star. Some of the possibles may happen tomorrow!

In other news, I must confess I have failed at my push-up challenge. I hit about 8- and I was finding it harder to fit them in to my day, time wise. I was having trouble sleeping if I left them too late in the day :/ Also I managed to pull a muscle in my arm at work by being an idiot :p So, my goal now is to just keep doing pushups every day, period, and to also try to either start getting back to the gym more regularly or to make time to do non-gym body-weight workouts regularly as well. And of course my regular dog-related exercise. I don't have a particular goal to set, I just want to stay active and not become a total couch-bound lump. Oh and I suppose someday I would also like to do a real unassisted pull-up, that would be cool. But to be honest, my body is not in great shape, between various joint and lung related issues, and I have other goals that are more important to me. I'm content for now with my middling levels of fitness and with the attention I pay to what I'm eating. I'm not the best, but I never am, and I'm okay with that.

Now, speaking of more important goals, I am going to go work on those tables :)

First off, happy Birthday to Maximus Rex - kingly king of all the Maxes, who might also be kick of the slackers if he could ever bother getting around to it, and who is probably actually too lazy to read LJ anymore ^-^

Secondly, yay, I also got a postcard from Daniel, which probably came yesterday but I didn't check my mail until about 10 min ago :) Woot! mail is good. i need to send more of it.

Thirdly, I just got back from the gym with Megan and oy, I'm going to be sore (in a good way, I hope), tomorrow. Now I am going to have lunch, then take a shower, and get back to tackling the Villefranche wreck. Possibly put my eyes out with pointy sticks.

I also want to try making crock pot beans today, using my sister's recipe, minus the ham, which I hate. Alas I have no onion. perhaps later I will take a break and obtain one. Last night I made hot fudge pudding, for instant chocolate gratification, but I may do more baking later. I'd like to have something to bring to movie night, and something to snack on for myself.

In other news, in addition to writing everyday (which I've been managing fairly well lately), I think I would also like to set a personal goal of *reading* everyday. I have far too many book on my shelves which I haven't read - especially academic-ish ones. Reading for class and class related projects doesn't count, at least not yet, but I may change my mind about that as time goes on... Regular class readings will never count though, because that will feel too much like cheating! Right now I am reading Pirates and Outlaws of Canada which I got as a present a while ago from someone. Great memory, eh?

Eventually, I will upload the tornado damage pictures from my complex. They're at least on my computer now...
