I have to say - teaching Historical Archaeology (if I get to) will be interesting, as reading the commonly accepted definitions of my chosen field make me want to STAB PEOPLE IN THE FACE!
If you wan to create a discipline that studies 'the development of the modern world,' whatever, fine. But you know what? Don't call it 'Historical'. Because that's bloody ignorant. And you know what else, you ignorant fuckers? the 'modern world' does not begin with the discovery of the Americas. I can promise you that Europeans had been impacting indigenous people (in Africa and Asia!) for centuries before that. Orser, you are an ass!
I could rant more but I need to read this book. And not stab anyone in the face.
In other news, I can has kitty, since Ryan is gone home for a bit.
