Oh My Holy Crap things are busy right now at work.
Over the holidays, they turn the heat down in the buildings. Although our vaults are on a separate HVAC circuit, this still means we need to move everything out of our galleries. This means that on Monday we will be taking down all three shows, two of which are travelling exhibits (one of which is going to be an utter nightmare) and one of which is permanent collection. Right now, our PC exhibit mostly consists of 'all our really big pieces that take up a ton of room on our racks.' This means we have had to make space to put them back.
On top of all *that* crazyness, we have to store a bunch of stuff for our sister gallery, because their space is, well, less than ideal, and they don't have separate HVAC system. So we need to make space for all of that. And then, on top of taking down three shows, we will have to actually physically move all of that stuff into our space (and yes, move it back again later).
On top of *that*, they are re-doing the floors in the flagroom over the break....sometime... and we need to pack up all of the antique china out of the cabinet, and put *it* back in to storage in our space (fortunately we actually have a special place for it already, so that doens't require moving anything). And then we have to move *the cabinet*, *while* we are taking down three shows.
On top of *that*, the university thought the break would be a great time to move people in to new offices between semesters.... Some of these people have art that *has* to be moved (they are shutting off power completely to the old building), but it is big, damaged art that is not *really* our responsibility and we can't get the person whose it is to talk to us.... oh and also, we don't have the space!
Ahhh! I'm working 40 hours instead of my usually 20 this week, but it still doesn't feel like it will possibly be enough time to get things sorted. And that leaves me less time to work on any of my own stuff too.
Gah! Time to rearrange my schedule again....
