It continues to surprise me, though it really shouldn't how many people I read about in various texts - how many important historical figures, that is, eventually wound up in or had ties to the Bahamas.
Today's candidate is John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore, who is mentioned in the book I am currently reading on the relationship between the Algonquin Indians and various Colonial powers. He was Governor of Virginia up until the Revolution (technically until after the Revolution, I suppose?).
Oh, and he was also the guy who officially founded Dunmore Town at Harbour Island :V
I swear, everyone winds up there.
