Hee hee... VD. That will never cease to amuse me :D

I got Joel the Ramones tribute CD. He seemed happy with that.

I also got an LJ valentine from one person.... I only nominated two in the end, since I couldn't decide for the last one.

Later on, I'm going to see a screening of Metropolis at the weenie 'Artsy' theatre, and then I think maybe dinner at as Chinese restaurant or something. I'm not exactly sure.

This morning, for breakfast, I had oatmeal cookies. Yay cookies! They came in the mail, with some patterns and some love :) I feel like a bad sister, though. I never write back :(

I had a thought to send people valentines, but I'm poor and I have nothing to make them with. I stupidly left all my crayons and crap in F'ton.

I'm right now in the middle of composing an 'update' e-mail to my dad... he writes me periodically and demands these, and talking to my cousin Kevin over ICQ (He is at my grandparents).

I don't know what I'm going to do for the rest of the day. maybe I'll go to the gym for a bit. I probably should, even. I fear I migfht start to get slack with that. And my gym-ing isn't particularly hardcore anyway :p They don't encourage (want?) you to do more than one rep on any of the machines in the circuit, and I'm never sure how much (or how difficult)cardio stuff I should be doing to have it actually be beneficial.

Anyway, one thing I shoudl do today is try to figure out how to get these computers properly networked. I had it done before... :o

Enough with the disconnected rambling already!

30 minutes 3-4 days a week is enough for most people. Stairmasters, step machines, aerobics, treadmills, even brisk walking. Just enough to get a light sweat going or your heart rate about 20% above average (they should have charts for age/gender).

And if they don't encourage reps on machines, then just cycle through. Do one set, go to next machine, do one set, lather-rinse-repeat.

Eh.

Contrary to Ayr touting the party line on this one, I will recommened that you should work as hard as you can, if you're doing cardio. Short and intense is the way to go. Builds better results, and has a greater effect on your metabolism throughout the rest of the day. Also, more calorie burn, which I can only imagine is good for what you're seeking.

I rarely use machines, but when I do, I go 20 - 30 minutes at a difficult pace. At the end I should be exhausted and drenched.

You should still be able to pass the "talk test". Work out hard, but don't work out so hard that you are incapable of understandable speech. Getting your heart-rate up helps burn fat.

Also, I've been told that for optimum fat-burning results, do your cardio after your weight-training.
