I went to the stuffing place again today. While I did a very *good* job at stuffing, I also did a very slow job, getting only 3 animals done. I think this was because my hands and arms, etc, we still sore form the day before. Today, I think I bruised the palm of my hand pushing on the screwdriver :/
Still, I was getting paid an hourly wage, and I think I was probably producing better quality than some of the other poeple there, even if I was slow. At the end of the day (which was 4 instad of 5 because the boss wanted to go home early), they told us that they wouldn't need us tomorrow, but that if we left our numbers, they would call us directly next time they needed stuff like this done, instead of going through the temping agency. Which would be good if I can have more days like yesterday (7 animals at 10 each) and less like today (only 3). And if you manage to do ten in a day, the give you 12 for each of those, which is a 20$ bonus.
We had also been told that we *might* get a 2$/animal bonus, but I think they were expecting/hoping we could do one an hour when that was said, which was, sadly, not the case.
Ahh well. I'd do it again, foir a day anyway. It would be worth it, and the people were fun, as stated yesterday. I now know a lot more ex-cons than I ever did before, that's for sure, and more about the Kitchener drug and stripping scenes. And some of the clubs :o. I also heard about some of the local prisons, and a bit about what it is like doing time, and whatnot. Yay, vicarious living... the only way I'd ever want to find out about such things ^-^. I also heard that a lot of the people in Canadiian (or at least, Ontario) jails these days aren't even criminals. Ther are people who are either immigrants or potential immigrants who have done only the slightest misdemeanour and are so being investigated by Immigration and who will possibly be deported. I guess Canadian Immigration is just a bitch. But I guess I should have known that already. mreh
In other news, I was really dizzy after I walked home. I think the reason may have been a combination of things from the following list: walking 45 minutes; The fact that the stuffing place gets noxious fumes all day from the poorly-venthilalted paint shop on the bottom floor; dehydration. I wasn't dizzy yesterday, and I had no water at all, but the fumes didn't seem as strong and I didn't walk home. So, who knows? Anyway, now I',m just tired :p
My computer has been fucking up again, so I guess, if you have gotten this far, please consider this a desperate plea for technical assistance. Originally, the problem was that I'd start to load windows XP, it would start, then hesitate, thern I'd get bluescreen of death with some white writing for about 1/2 a second, and then thencomputer would re-start. This would only happen once and a while in the early stages, then it got to maybe happening twice in a row, but not always, to *always* happening. So what I did, to try and not lose the 2-3 gigs of mp3s I have, plus other important things like my resume and character sheets, was to install a second Win-XP thingy. At first that seemed to have fixed the [prob;em, though I had to hunt around to find where my files were, since win XP likes to display things without actually telling you where they are :p BUt then, the blue-screen-re-start things started again. So I got joel to go out ad buy some CD-R's, so I can save the important things (the mp3's) so that I can reformat and reinstall win-xp. But the burning process does not seemed to have worked! Of course, I stupidly burned 4 CD's worth of stuff before I checked. I have CD's that are apparently full of nothing. I can't load them without crashing the explorer window. I wans't using any special software, either, just the 'burn these files to disk' option that pops up when you copy files (or shortcuts to files) into the cd-drive window when you put in a blank disc. I'm too tired to risk playing with it tonight (evidence of this: I originally spelled that 'too night'). I might wind up destroying something valuable in a fit of unbrindled rage. So I thought I'd ask for suggestions from the Peanut galler-- err, I mean, my friends (more on the CD issue than the hard drive thing, ehich I've given up on, though if you *do* know... Scott says it is probably crapping out on a driver, but we can't figure out which one). ^-^ Well?
Right, I'm going to bed. Maybe the computer fairy will fix this for me overnight.
