I had a dream last night about my scion game – and then this morning one of the other players had posted some stuff about it, heh.
I’ll see what I can remember, though it probably won’t make a lot of sense to everyone.
First of all, the game plot was kind of railroaded, and there are parts of the dream where we were players sitting around complaining about it. It wasn’t Josh or one of the other PCs running though – I don’t think it was a specific person that I knew, but it did remind me of the guy I played with in North Carolina. The type of GM who has their vision sort of half-assedly in mind, and doesn’t want the players to foil them too easily, and also specifically want to trip up the players. So in the dream there was some OOG bitching about it, which I recall, though I don’t remember about which parts. I do remember interacting with more of the regular crew of players (though strangely, no Zari or Shelby) in this part than in the actual in-game section. Mostly the dream was ‘in game’, though I as the dreamer knew I was a player playing my character…. It was like lucid dreaming inside the dream… Possibly I have been writing too many inception mini-fics. So, onto the actual story plot!
The group was returning from somewhere, or trying to get somewhere, but we were stuck, because wherever we were going was too heavily forested, and we were trying to fly (in an airplane). We knew there should be somewhere we could land, but it was just this huge forested mountain.
At one point I realized (or possibly the GM told me because he got tired of fucking with us) that it was an illusion, and that I could make a roll to disbelieve. Somehow this was something more specific to my character, which kind of make sense. So, I do so, and I get a glimpse of the airfield where we are tying to go, and I use my control over technology powers to try and land the plane, even though I can’t consistently see the field, and only sort of know where it was. So we crash, but it isn’t a horrible ‘everyone dies’ kind of crash.
At this point we have a brief encounter with the main villain, I believe, who is some kind of Titan or Tital Spawn, no doubt! He is a really cool looking plant creature – think of Micky Rourke’s character from Ironman 2, only with vines – vine tentacle whips, thick, ropey vine dreadlocks that grow into/from his back, but pulled into a sort of topknot on top… He was attached to the mound of earth and leaves he was in/on as well, though that could move on it s own, sort of slowly. He was standing on top of a hill. I think I actually got a better look at him towards the end of the dream, so that is what most of this description comes from. At this point, we are injured and he has us at his mercy, so there is a little bit of monologuing.
Apart from the illusion powers, he actually also has the power to transform the landscape, which is what he is doing, though slowly. In order to keep people out of the way, he has created a sort of matrixy/inceptiony illusion for them to live in, where humans are all attached to some kind of plan-based parasite, that feeds on them and controls them. Or… maybe there actually were these parasites – I’m not clear on that part anymore. In anycase, we were all brainwashed to think that this is how things always were, how they were supposed to be. And we were living in some kind of city in the middle of this thick jungle.
Obviously, in order to defeat this guy, we had to snap out of it. Because Simon (my character) had been able to see through the illusion previously, he was less susceptible to it this time around. Either I realized there were no parasites, or else once they lose power over you, they can’t stay on you. So, somehow, I managed to get free, and then I had to find the others, and wake them up as well.
The only people I recall clearly being in this part of the dream are Nils and Ronnie, though Ronnie is more in the background. With Nils, I have a clearer memory of tring to wake him up, by going through some of his stuff and tryig to make him remember that it was important to ‘real’ Nils (as opposed to plant-dream-brainwashed Nils…. Of course, none of this has much to do with the actual character…. @_@). In this case, there was a carved bone flute thing (I think it the dream it was supposed to be one of his presents for Loki, possibly it was standing in for the cane, but influence by other things from my subconscious, such as the bone handle I found during fieldwork, and an Underworld plot…) and a bunch of teensy tiny purple dice. I found the dice and flute, and was trying to explain to him that he cared about them, and trying to trigger some kind of reaction by pouring out the vial of tiny dice onto his bed (the top bunk of a set of wooden bunk beds, in the corner of a wooden cabin/house… I don’t even know, but I think that setting was related to the plant-guy illusion. Or my brain is just weird. Hey maybe the dice were supposed to represent wine?) to freak him out, and taking away the flute. Eventually one of these things worked, with a little coaxing from Ronnie.
I don’t remember collecting the others, or even if we managed it before Plan Guy accosted us. We had some Challenging Dialogue, but I was waking up during that scene, and couldn’t retain enough dream-lucidity to really see it through. But we all knew what was going on, and were preparing our mental defenses to deal with his mind-fuckery, and were gonna get down to the serious business of Defeating the Bad Guy.
And so it was.
