I have watched most of the game now. Is this a sad thing? maybe It is also an awesome thing? Definitely :D

Below are some impressions - not about plot points, though some are maybe given away in passing. Mostly reflections on characters...


First off.... Ceodore = so adorable! He is soooo Cecil and Rosa's kid.

Kain is as awesome as ever. Possibly more awesome. remember when Cecil went to Mt ordeals and rejected his dark side to become a paladin. Kain doesn't do that. He just sort of accept that there is always going to be a part of him that would totally kill Cecil so that he could have Rosa. Oh yes. <3 The best thing: Everyone is so happy to see him that they don't really put much thought in to the implications there :V Also, Rosa continues to be a total twit. There needs to be more/better art of Paladin!Kain

Kain's relationship with Ceodore verges on the creepy at times. It's like... "I can't have your wife but I will totally be a second dad to your son!" Walk that creepy student-mentor relationship Kain, walk it carefully :x At one point Rosa tells him not to be too rough on her son. his response 'We'll see if that's what he wants." D: D: D:

I like how Kain can wear a cloak instead of his armour and neither Cecil or Rosa recognize him. Or Cid, or Edward, etc... Did you sleep in your armour much there buddy? Oh wait - you never actually slept, you spent all your time at the bar. <3

I like the suggestion that Kain and Cecil have actually always been brothers. I'm not sure yet if that is litteral or not. But it pleases me.

Palom. Oh Palom, I love you so incredibly much. You're such a Dean character. Such an arrogant little know-it-all braggart, still. I love it when Porom smacks him around. So awesome. I also love how he's a shit but he *does* know what he is doing, and he's actually quite clever.

Porom. Yay for white mages with personality! She turned out pretty cool. I think it is funny how much she tries to be responsible when she clearly just want to run off and be like her brother. And how the Elder calls her on it. I love how she dresses like a total tart. Well okay, not a total tart - No one dresses as tarty as Rydia :x

Man. Palom/Luca or Palom/Leonora. I can't decide :V Oh yes - I also love how the Elder sends the arrogant young black mage to the city of hot chicks. I imagine that the Elder was hoping that if he could just get laid, he'd mellow out :V

Edge and Rydia continue to be an epic quasi-couple. I think maybe they have a kid but I'm not sure D: Edge's ninja brigade are awesome. I can't decide if I like Edge's or Palom's response to the threat to the crystals better.

Edward continues to be a spineless wuss. Harley is awesome. I suppose it is hard for him to get over his dead girlfriend when she keeps appearing to him though. And his dead not-quite-father-in-law >_< I love how he can sleep in her bed, though. That's fantastic. Also - whose kids are those? :V

Aditionally, I like the way the chapters intersect and the way the timing works out between them.

Gender things: I love how Rydia and Luca go around being badass babes. I love how they set things up to make it look like Yang is a mysoginist who won't let his daughter train to be a monk because she is a gril, and then it turns out that's not it at all. I love how Edge is still a mysoginist dick and everyone is always calling him on it. I love how ever Rosa refuses to just be passively protected by men.

I love the mix of old and new, and how the older characters are all teachers in some way, mentoring others, and how that balances out. I like how there are a lot of support characters used, and how some of the support people rock super hard (see Edge's ninjas, Harley)

Anyway, it is pretty sweet and it pleases me greatly. Now I demand more Kain fanarts. I demand them from Bronwen - she knows what I'm talking about ;)
