So I don't often get on my femist soapbox, but I have to say... tampax fail.

It might have been interesting to inflict lady puberty on a man, but you don't have to baggage it with a zillion other stereotypes. Apparently, girls like romance and baking because they have vaginas.

Well, that, and the entire thing smacked of "having a vagina is the worst thing that could happen to you."

When I was going through puberty the tampon commercials with the gymnastics in white leotards were the best because (a) it showed me that people CAN be functional with cramps and (b) OMG you CAN wear white. Know what I mean? Having a commercial with a boy in it? Just...no. Boys have no frackin' clue.

On a related note, have you heard of the Little Red Book that's come out recently? My favourite author (Tamora Pierce) recommended it in her blog. It's short "first period" stories from lots of different women, and the intended audience is girls about to start theirs.

They don't...but...next you'll be telling me periods dont make you get pulled along the beach on rollerskates by big dalmations!!!!!!
