This will be my last week at Buttermilk, so hooray! My hand is keeeeeeliing me. Sad face. Jessi sees a lot of those on the paperwork. So far we mostly all still get along. We didn't find anything really excited this week, but we did just figure out on friday that a bunch of the pits where we were digging are in disturbed area, possibly a looter's pit. This explains why some stuff was not found at the levels where it should be expected, however, so that is kind of a good thing. No more wondering hy a 10000 year old point base was at a level that correlates with a geological age of 13000+ :p Also explains why we haven't found any diagnostic clovis pieces in thatarea, but have found them in the areas all around it. Of course one of the units I've been in was in this area, so that's a bit frustrating. Not The Hell Corner however, which is good. The sorts of things you can learn in soil profiles are neat - not just looking at the layers, but in things like, say, noting the size f the chunke the walls form when they dry out.
Anyway, I haven't been getting as much done in the evenings as I'd like academicaly. I'm poking at the article for ther maritme cultural landscapes book, but it is slow because he material is old to me now, and I'm trying not to lose my focus. I need to expand on what's there, and add references and some depth, not just mix in a bunch of new shit I've been working on, necessarily.
On the other hand, I've been fairly productive on other fronts. I've done a bunch of fiction reading: The Romulan Way, How Much for Just the Planet, Swordhunt, Honor Blade, Making Money, The Boy Who Followed Ripley, A Wizard of Earthsea.... I think that's it. I don't know what I'll bring for next week. Maybe some more Ursula, but possibly another Ripley book, or something completely different - who knows!
I am also Still writing about Romulans, despite the impeding comic, and its shiny shiny art. Also, I have found a script recap that talks about the missing scenes, and tells me that some of the things that I have done, or have planned for my story, are very much in line with things that were cut. So hooray!
Yarr, that's it. I'm sleepy and am going to type up this week's installment, then probably nap. Or maybe nap then finish, we shall see....
