My ipod isn't working anymore. I will test it at school when I get a chance to make sure it isn't a software issue on my end (I notice it started after I installed the new itunes, and it isn't hardware), but it doesn't seem to acknowledge being plugged in to a usb port anymore. Which means it isn't charging and I can't change the music. Woe!

Extra woe because I'm soon going on a long trip and I can't afford to replace it. D: Monies are going to be pretty tight for the next little while and this is exactly the absolute worst time it could happen. Hooray :p

I already tried :/

It's an old shuffle - resetting does nothing and it is impossible to do anything else with it not being connected.... And since the problem is that it isn't being recognized I can't move on to any of the other steps!

Try talking with Apple support before discarding it. And rebooting/resetting it should help.

It's just a shuffle - there's mot much I can do with it at this point, unless it is just a software thing. And a new one is only 50$ - I'm not sure it would be worth it to get it serviced if it is something more.

You could try giving it a sharp slap on the back. That once fixed mine when it wouldn't charge or do anything else for a couple of months.

NO dice! Though it was sort of therapeutic :V

Mine was making a strange little whirring sound, but not actually doing anything, so I think something was stuck. I was really surprised when hitting it actually worked. I had been without it for two months before I tried that.

If you buy a new one, may I suggest scouring a used goods site for your area? You'd be getting a much better deal buying a used ipod.
