So, maybe I don't take rejection well. Maybe I am too haughty?

I submitted this storyto one of the podcasts I've been listening to lately. It was rejected, once again not based on the story writing, etc, but rather on the market. They said that it would probably do better I straight-laced markets. I... am dubious about just how accepting straight-laced markets would be of a story that ends with cannibalism :o If it weren't for that line, I'd just accept the idea that they don't want the story - maybe the lead up doesn't pack enough punch for their listeners, for instance? But that's not what they *say*. So, my immediate conclusion is that they didn't *get* the story. To which my reaction is that I should ask them what they thought was inepropriate... Is that the height of arrogance or am I just trying to understand the market better? The market does baffle me, I freely admit. I am also starting to wonder if it is just not a standard rejection sort of thing to say - 'This is great but it isn't for us, please try again!'

-I did e-mail them, of course.

Anyway, in other news, I just lost an eyelash in my eye. I think I finally understand how people can wear contacts. I could see it, as I was in the bathroom looking in the mirror. But I couldn't, and still can't, feel it. How odd!

I don't think there's much to lose by asking, at least. Maybe they're honest!

Well, for what it's worth I do think that it's a bit of a standard rejection, but as long as you feel you can take whatever answer they can come up with, I say go for it! It's always a shitty thing to say that oh, this is good but not for us, cos if it's not good enough it doesn't really help you make it better, does it? But I guess one could argue that making you a better writer is not really their responsibility... That being said: Good on you for asking, I hope you get a decent reply :)
