I am having issues organizing myself and getting things doe, which is maybe not surprising as I haven't really got a schedule set for myself this summer yet.
Here are the longterm things I would like to accomplish:
-Produce at least one publishable article on some aspect of piracy, probably based on my ECU work with maybe a digression into flags.
-Finish at at least one publishable short story (The Cursed Wreck)
-start applications for next year's round of grants - SSHRC being the first, as far as I recall.
-move house in August sometime
That isn't really a whole lot to accomplish in 2 months, is it? I should be good.
To start this off, today I have a meeting at 10:30 about getting an apartment. I need to go in to school to get stuff from my trip and for my job in the fall sorted out, since I failed to do that yesterday. I am going to do some writing this morning before my meeting. I am going to do something this afternoon, possibly look over my various pre-existing pirate articles to decide what I can work with from them. My real dilemma is that i need to try and pick a target where I want to publish - maybe what I will do is look through J-store or some other journal databases to get a sense for where this might belong... I tend to aim straight for the top with things like this, and I have to say that really, I've been pretty lucky. I dunno if that will carry over to academic undertakings. I guess we'll see :o
Oh, speaking of, I should also e-mail the editor for my story again and see what's what. Last I heard he was waiting to get some details worked out wit a few other authors in the anthology, but that contracts should be going out soon... That was before I went to the Bahamas though.
