I spent most of the morning... asleep. Arr. I kept getting woken up in the middle of dreams by various things. I was nigh-incoherent when the guy came to drop of the vibe box at... 7:45! Hoe insane. I could barely manage a complete sentence, and I didn't have any pants(trousers) on... just a short nightdress. I had him wait a sec while I fumbles for a sarong to tie around my ewait, but my hand-eye coordination was so poor it took me forever to get the damned thing unfolded and tied somewhat decently.
I was still awake enouhg to realize he was clueless when i asked him "so what exactly is in this box?" and he asnwered, "Your VIBE connection." As if a connection is an entity unto itself. Blah. My prompting of "which consists of?" produce another unsatisfactory response which basically revealed the fact that he hadn't a clue. I went back to sleep. Unfortunately, I dont remember the incrediby bizzare dream that I was woken out of. It would have made quite a tale, I'm sure.
When I did wake up, I read through the VIBE instructions. It said not to install the softwarre until the connection was actually set up, which was slotted to be done after three. I did my usual net stuff then... webcomincs, LJ's e-mail... and then I started reading the 8-bit theatre archives. I've always meant to do that, but had never quite gotten around to it. I read most of them, and then installed VIBE.
Mostly straightforward, although I did have to call them once to get them to chance something on their system before it would work. and now it does! Go me! Now if I only had an extra ethernet card and a cross-over cable, I could get it on my laptop, too. Ahh well. Mr. Fisher said he would lend us that stuff while we are here, unless he sees a cheap router while at Futureshop. He is away until the end of the week, though, so
longpig and I will have to continue to make do with keyboard sharing for a little while longer, unless I can think of any other clever solution to our current dilemma.
I also got my bound copy of my dissertation in the mail. I hope it got to the department okay, and that the makring and everything goes well... I'm a tad bit paranoid. It should be fine, though.
At the moment, I'm going to do some things like, of, say, get dressed, and stuff, and then maybe go and finish going through the 8-bit archives.
I like swords.
