I am ridiculously tired today, and it should be about bee time soon, so, yes. Tired ;_;

last night i went over to Carlos's place with LeeAnn and [livejournal.com profile] earis. We watched The Mummy :D Well, first we watched L'Annie's video on the building and launching of Lynx ( a war of 1812 Privateer replica ship on which she has worked). I can't believe how many people haven't seen the mummy, though. it is so so sweet. It is the movie with the greatest replay value for me, though I am not sure I would put it on the top of my list of favourites. Good times were had, in any case. tonight is movie night, and I should probably call about getting a ride. And maybe bring a snack. maybe baking would wake me up. Or I could do more reading...

I have read and skimmed a lot of stuff since Wednesday: both volumes of Barlow's Journal (about 600 pages total), a 650 page book on life in the navy, Uring's journal, and I'm now 150 pages into Dampier's first voyage. The journals are really interesting, with all sorts of cool bits, and it is had to stay focused on just skimming for stuff useful for my paper. Dampier, especially, is a character and a half he has all these really rich descriptions of various fauna of the exotic places he'd been, and notes about how they taste ;) This is quite common in all the journals, but Dampier is more detailed about animals. He is seen as being an early naturalist, but really I just think he had a mission similar to [livejournal.com profile] fritzleonhardt's: to eat one of each of God's creatures ;p

I also planned to work on my Fluyt presentation this weekend, but I haven't yet. Blah! I anted to ask [livejournal.com profile] tethys123 about how she makes those cool powerpoint backgrounds... Are you going in to school on Monday perchance?

I just fell asleep with a belly full of acidic juice, and am living to regret it, bleh.

In other news, I have posted the latest complete chapter of Shadows, but don't expect me to have any time for typing more (let alone writing) before next Monday!

Was it Dampier's mother or father who was a vampire?

No, you're getting him confused with that other 17th century explorer, Edward Damphire ;p

I'm going in, and I don't have a problem helping you mess with photoshop. Be forewarned though, that my graphics take like 12-14 hours, so I don't have time to do that, but we can surely come up with something fun.

Thanks, sounds good! I can mess arounsd in photoshop on my own - I just need to know how to put said messings into Powerpoint, and some other litle details.

See you Monday :)

Okay, cool. Your messings need to be 960 by 720 pixels, to start. That makes them the right size to put into powerpoint; the rest I'll have to show you myself.

Would it mess you up spectacularly if I didn't come in until after 5 when I can drive and park? I'll give you a ride home; I'll openly admit to not wanting to walk in the rain with a bunch of library books in my backpack. If that's a problem, I'll just suck it up. Let me know.

Sweet, thanks. It's just that I've gone through all my secondary sources and now I need to drag home all the primary sources so I can go through them and actually get the writing of this beast done. Mentally I'm organized, but you know. Basically I'm going to need a wheelbarrow to get them home, and books+rain=bad
