Wonder if I spelled that right :o

Well, now that I've got your attention... Mary and Ian are Evil. They....arranged a surprise party of sorts for me, because I'm leaving at the end of the month. I had...suspicions, shall we say, that something was afoot. And then people started showing up here after I got back from the pub...

Anyway, it was really cool :D It explained the mad baking Mary had been doing and Ian's restraint in not eating all the freshly baked cookies. Also things like the intensive housekeeping and dishwashing and what not :o

There were gaming people and medieval people, mostly, plus a few other people I vaguely knew through less direct routes. We gabbed, listened to music, took silly photos.... They made me sing the moose song twice :o We also watched the three hour Neverwhere miniseries, which was cool, in a different way from the book (which did come later, arr).

And, and and... People bought me *stuff* :o Mary and Ian got me the most traumatic gift, in *my* opinion. It is a hamster that dances and sings 'King Fu Fighting'. Some of you know my reactions to that kind of animated toy.... The hysterical laughter, the mad glint in the eye, the Absolute Terror. They didn't know this, but assured me it was highly amusing. I tried to defend myself with my dance cane but there were enough people who were determined to harass me despite the caneings administered that I had to hide in the stairwell. and that was when there were only five of us around :o Fortunately, people took pity on me and lent me a screw driver to remove the batteries. *phew*!

Other people got me stuff too, mostly Nevilles. Yay the Nevilles!

Things I got:
A card (from Simon)
The two issues of Midnight nation that I was missing (from Rogan)
Packet of lavender (from Megan... looks like a silver NERO spell packet)
Card and bookmark (from Liz and Tim)
Neville t-shirt (You have the right to arm bears! ^-^) (from Tim)
Pewter rabbit fertility symbol (from Liz)
Fleure-de-lis with purple crystal pin (from Liz)
Vagina dentatae pendant on cord (from Cis)
Dark purple glass and silver pendant (from Jackie)

Umm... I think that it is! But it was really nice to see so many people, and that so many people came! I feel loved, but sad that I'm going to be leaving all these friends behind.... Mostly right now I just feel tired and like I desperately need to brush my teeth. Too much banofee pie and rose pudding :o

A note on the vagina dentatae. It is a reproduction of a 15th century piece. Apparently, peole in the medieval period had a sense of humour. Then again, they also carried bollocks daggers.... Think of the shae of a dagger hilt, now use your imagination. Hee! As for the pendant, the also thought scary things like that would keep away evil spirits, or so I'm told.

I'm also told the following. Apparently, during this period, when you visited pilgrim shrines and whatnot, you collected tokens to demonstrate that you'd been there. The pendant I had it a reproduction of a token serving a bit of an amusing analogue to this, in that it was from a Paris brothel. Hee! Also, the Neville women have a bit of a reputation which makes the symbolism appropriate. And also, when you wear it, and you're talking to a guy, if you stick the finger through the hole, it means you already have someone. If you don't well, then you don't, right? ;D

Anyway, as I said, I'm in a really good mood. On top of this, I reached my 10 000 word benchmark today on my dissertation (and met my word quota, yes!).I've got one major section left to write, and then the introduction and conclusion. Arr. Now, though, I need sleep.
Mood:: Tired but happy :)

From the murky depths of the Latin grammar stored in my brain.... I *think* it's "vagina dentata" for the singular and "vaginae dentatae" for the plural. But then, could be wrong.

Glad you had fun.
