"The bee industry in Texas is assuming large proportions and has already become a very important source of income to many farmers of this State. It has come to the point of development where any disease of bees, so destructive as foul brood, means a very heavy loss to many beekeepers who can ill afford to suffer it. Moreover, this disease is spreading at an alarming rate and definite steps should be taken as early as possible to stop its ravages and prevent its distribution. It seems to the authors that the first step in this direction should be one whereby beekeepers may become more familiar with the disease and able to recognize it when present in their apiaries."
