so far today, I have done my dishes, gone through my trunk (after popping off the lock - there are so few problems a few good whacks with a hammer can't solve!), and put my furniture where I more or less want it for now. Once I get a real computer desk, I am going to move my table into the bedroom to use for sewing stuff. I'd lke to get a real couch at some point as well. And a dvd player now that i have a TV.

This afternoon, however, is dedicated to more unpacking and sorting. I have all my kitchen things in my kitchen, but my pantry is not organized at all. I still have boxes of books to put away, and many other random bits to arrange.

I still need to do more shopping, though, and yesterday I learned, to my delight, that the Albersons has a plastic bag recycling box at their store. This is great, as not only can I get rid of my mountain of plastic bags (yes they moved with me, but mostly they were being used to protect my glassware), but it will cut down my guilt for accumulating more. Now I need some, as I use them as garbage bags in my kitchen and bathroom. I don't like to accumulate too much kitchen garbage, and a smaller trash bin encourages me to take it out to the dumpster more regularly. I also need to do some writing, as I kind of went to an unexpected place with my last piece on Shadows. For any of you who might actually care, I am hoping to restart Pieces come September, and dedicated the rest of the August Writing Challenge to Shadows. More or less.

So, i will unpack more this afternoon, and if I need a break, I will write more. Later on this evening, probably around 5 or 6, I will go back to the grocery story to pick up more things I need... like bloody margarine! Dinner tonight will be pork, asparagus, and rice, though, tell me that doesn't sound delicious? *Takes a pork bit back out of the freezer* I also want a few bits I can get at walmart, like a crossover cable... or a patch cable? Shit, not I can't remember which i need -_- And a cable of some sort that will actually let me hook up my free cable. May as well, since I actually have a tv :V Then I will go to the pool for half an hour or so before I have my delayed Five Kingdoms session at 7PM my time, 9AM Joel's time. Wacky. Well he'll be back in a more reasonable timezone soon enough! oh I may see if I can get swim goggles at walmart as well...

And I think that will just about be my day! Better get cracking!

Cable TV is usually Coax cable, the ends look like round thingies with a pin in the middle, instead of cat9 which looks like a phone cord

Do they have a salvation army down there in College Station? good couches to be had there cheap

As for the TV - I bought a coaxial cable, but there is no place on the tv to plu one in.... I thik what I actually need s some kind of adapter. I am going to ake a picture of the back of the tv for when I go back over there.

Weird. Are there only RCA inputs? (the yellow/red/white threesomes) I know I use those, but my setup is wall -(coax)-> cable box -(RCA)-> tivo -(RCA)-> TV

But most TVs should have a coax input, unless the TV is REALLY old (they used to market that as "cable ready" TVs, until every tv had it)... or do really new TVs shun coax, too?

it is weird. I don't need a cble box for one, because it is through the complex.

The TV itself (free hand-me-down!) is pretty old, but not so old that it shouldn't hav a coaxial plug, so, I dunno :o

The only tvs I've ever encountered without a coax are either (i) so new all they have are fancy pantsy inputs or (ii) have the coax port busted off.

there's also an ikea in houston or dallas, whichever is closer -- find a friend with a truck and make a road trip!

You want a crossover cable for connecting your two computers, but I thought you said you had a cat5 cable and a crossover adapter?

I thought I had a crossover adapter, but I was full of lies!

Well, if you didn't lie about the cat5 cable, buy a crossover adapter, since it will probably be cheaper than buying a crossover cable. (But check the prices to make sure).
