Terminologically speaking, do ships have windows? I think portholes are a specific kind of window, and now really what I mean. I am thinking what you would look out if you were standing on the bridge. I keep thinking view port, but maybe that is just having watched too much Star Trek. I can't find anything online, of course. Everything I'm turning up is mostly age of sail stuff. *sigh*

I think they're still windows if they're actually windows. Port holes are a specific kind of window...

I seem to recall that on warships they are called 'screens'. But I'd check that if I were you.

well, this isn't for a warship - just a research vessel, but I'm still not sure. Stupid ships and their tricksy terminology! Why can't they have doors and stairs and windows like everything else!

Portholes are specifically below deck windows, I would guess anything above deck is just called a window. :)
