I just heard back from Gustav Milne at UCL, and I have to say, that development of the thames stuff is looking more interesting by the minute :o

"The period from c 1500 to 1900 would therefore plot the impact on the small-scale riverside yards of
the rise of the Royal Dockyards, the development of the enclosed dock system, the change from sail to steam, from wooden ships to steel-hulled, the expansion of Empire etc etc: a truly dramatic period for maritime industries."

*dance*

With virgin archives to explore, and maps, and archaeology, and social history... *dance*!

All this really demonstrates is my own ablity to get interested in just about anything, if you tell me enough about it ^-^

Okay, now I'm going to do some marking...
