...For two NPC's in my game. Sure, maybe they were bad guys, technically, but I liked them!

They just got slaughtered, it was sad... No more Ewan and Alex. I'm sure that [livejournal.com profile] 3headedmonkey will at least shed a tear with me... ^-^. Ahh well, Ewan is still around in spirit, at least, being that his soul got sewn into one of the PC's coats... Bound spirit! And some people are curious enough about Alex that some more of his backstory might come out... maybe. And it might help flesh out the one remaining Settite, Coraline... The party are off to try and stop her deadling with the Nosferatu for a library of some sort (well, *I* know what sort, but they don't). There's some other stuff goig on too, but, well, I can't say all.

There are a few things that worry me as a GM. One is that I can never seem to get the right level of hardness for my antagonists. Ewan, a relatively hard Settite, was litterally killed in two hits, in one round. It was too easy. On the other hand, I didn't think I could justify making him too much more powerful, based on what he was.

This leads me into the second thing. I worry about how to get the balance right of letting my players feel like they are accomplishing anything, but at the same time, not making it too easy. It shouldn't be a cakewalk, but I don't want them to feel overwhelmed and frustrated. How do you walk that line? People seem to be enjoying my game, at least, and I guess I should be taking that as a good sign. I always worry that I won't be able to bring things together well enough, though... At the moment there are a bunch of things going on.... and by things I mean plots. Most of them are tied together in some way or other, and I just hope that it isn't too cheesy. I like to take people's character backgrounds and find ways to link things into the overarching stories... Sometimes things get done in retrospect, and sometimes things involve out of people's actions in game. Sometimes I forget about major things, like people's four point ennemies, and have to desperately figure out what to do about that (I have, it's all okay now, I think. I must somply remember to have certain people make perception rolls at the beginning of next session ;) But I always worry. I think most GM's do. I hope I can tie things up satisfactorily before I have to leave, though...

I find that a bit different as well my name is Ewan and I have a cat named Alex living with me, no foreshadowing please.

Well, to the best of my knowledged, you don't have red hair, and aren't a Settite. On the chance that either of these things might change, the game is set about a hundred and fifty years into the future, so you've still got lots of time. As for Alex... well, call me if you start getting any unexplained fires happening about the house ;D
