I just don't know what to do, hmm. I have written most of my paper, and I am now down to the part describing my own analysis. And I am finding that I...lack conviction? I am not sure how useful my analysis is. I can see a couple of different way of doing it, and I don't know which is better. But this is up to me: it is the whole point of my undertaking this excercise.
I am not sure whether or not I want to separate drinking materials from eating stuff. On one hand, drinking was a well documented aspect of pirate social life. On the other hand, I'm not sure where to draw theline between some drinking related paraphenelia. For example, mny site has no cups of any kind. I kind of think they were drinking out of bowls, and that this is the reason that bowls dominate the assemblage of udentifiable ceramic forms... Or really of all artifact forms. They could have been drinking out of wooden cups, I suppose, but I'm tempted to say bowls just served as a multi-functional vessel type :) Hell, what can't you put in a bowl? ^-^

I think I will combine them but make sub-categories. That seems like a reasonable answer :p
