Hee! Brienne is carrying Dunk's shield :D Well, not his actual shield, but still ^-^ Made me squeal like a fangirl ^-^

Although, in my rush to figure that out, I *broke* my hairstick ;_; My pretty two pronged one. This is a major tragedy! No, seriously. Nothing else holds my hair so well ;_;

I will go console myself with more book.

I noticed in re-reading ASOS that Dunk evidently got to be Lord Commander of the Kingsguard at some point! And Barristan knew him! Eee!

Egg (Aegon) is Maester Aemon's brother.

It took me reading The Hedge Knight and looking at the list of Targaryans to figure this out. Aemon would have been about two years older.

I remember that but I couldn't find the reference in the comics... I will go back and look at the short story later. :D

It's in the section where Jaime is reading the White Book of the Kingsguard and thinking about his new office. He considers Ser Duncan the Tall one of the illustrious knights he's following. And then in the White Book entry for Barristan, it says that he defeated Ser Duncan the Tall at a tourney when he was 16, during the reign of Aegon V (who I believe is Egg). But by the time Barristan was 23 (when he got into the Kingsguard) there was some different Lord Commander.

Yeha, I remember reading that now that you mention it, but I don't remember if I made the connection at the time. I don't even remember if I'd read the Hedge Knight at that point :o ASOS is the only one I didn't re-read, because I don't have it :/

But yes, Aegon V is Egg.

I loved that as well. I'd just finished reading the Hedge Knight graphic novel when I read that bit. I wonder how Dunk's shield made it to Tarth? Isn't the seat of Brienne's family called "Evenstar"? Hmmm...perhaps Dunk is Brienne's ancestor.

I wondered too, but why would their arms have changed?
