I think I can officially count this a good day.
I woke up and got to talk to folks and get a bunch of reading done, I got to go gaming! And I got to watch Batman Begins. Sweet.
I really like Sol. He is working out how I wanted, and then some. I'm not all that bad at rogue stuffs, considering I only have three levels ;) I'm actually level six now too :) However, he doesn't have the best of luck. I seem to roll a lot of 1's on saves.... This could be a bad thing! :D In an interesting way.
So far: I have have fallen under a minor impulsion to carry out a(n evil) ritual that I found in an Artifact/grimoire (cursed, it seems). This is not all that bad, because I'm allowed to go about it in my own sideways kind of way, and gave me more ncentive to hook up with the other PC's, a.k.a. The Party. It was fun to try and ingratiate myself to them, and was certainly not an "I see your party had no rogue-sorceror!" kind of scanario! I told them I am a scholar. They don't really believe me, but call me that as sort of a sarcastic nickmname, so it's all good. Sol doesn't really care, for the moment. We'll see how things go if I don't manage to get myself out of this curse, though, hee! In addition to *that*, I botched a roll to disarm a magical trap and now have an addiction of some kind :D I mean, hell, it isn't like my saves are terribly *low* or anything... It's all fun though.
I have two 'favourite' moments from tonight's session, both came from when we were making our way through an 'under construction' Drow temple. All the rooms were empty, because they were just setting stuff up. Except for a banquet/council hall that, for some inexplicable reason, had a half-drunk goblet of wine on the table, that was made of solid gold and worth about 250 Gold. So, I took it. :D It was funny because there had been nothing else at *all* for loot, and because I had no compunctions about stealing it. My other favourite part came right where we ended, when Merys (I think), the Dwarven Cleric, found this old coffin in a concealed room behind the sacrifical chanmer in the temple that was much *much* older than the temple itself, and in fact seemed like previous to the construction had just been encased in the stone... So I tried to convince him that he didn't want to open it. That was only meeting with medium success, so instead, I convinced the rest of the party that we should leave him to his suicidal tendandcies, and we all took off on him while he was still deciding what to do ^-^
Sadly, I think the guy who was the best player is Jeff, the one who I am replacing. Tonight was his last session, as he is moving to Alberquerque, which, amusingly enough, My GM seems to believe is in Arizona. I guess it is true about Americans and geography afterall ;) Jeff is also one of the co-owners/runners/whatever of Tangent Games, who make DM aids for the d20 system under the open license.... things like a program that randomly generates gems, or a card set of different commodities and their values, so that you don't have to think about the stuff that is in that caravan your party just looted.... Just draw a few cards, and voila!
I don't really know how well the campaign will last. It is a small game: only three players, and this is how the GM likes it. However, one of them is not really able to commit to our every-2-weeks schedule, due to other life things which he needs to deal with, like the fact that he has 4 kids. I know that Eric is willing to run with missing people, but that is less fun. So he said that he may start another game, and either just run this current adventure for the two of us who can play more regularly, or else he may keep this one running for when Chris can make it, and run smething else to fill the time when he can. It seems like I'll be making another character anyway, but that's okay: it's all good. :) It's better than I had last year (well, in terms of RL gaming... last school year I also had Perseity and Diablotin...) I'm not going to complain that the game isn't run too regularly, because with DC thrown into the mix, it evens out to one gnme a week, which is really just about what my schedule can support.
Oh yes, extra confusion comes from the fact that Eric (the GM)'s wife is also named Heather, but she seems nice so all is well.
And also! After game we watched Batman Begins! I know I already said that but damnit, I love Batman...
Okay, now I should go to bed. I wasn't really out *that* late, but I cleaned the hammy cage when I got home, and I didn't want to cut his play time too short.... He is still running around in his ball.
