The very idea of pro-ana communities and attitudes makes me want to eat an entire box of ice cream and not excercise! What the hell people! What the hell! I bet you will be excited when you loose about a pound because you teeth fall out when you get scurvy. Fuck. Fuck right the hell off.

What makes me so mad about this is that it is sabotaging the chances of young inexperienced people wth eatoing disorders' chances of gettign help. These people are telling them that they can't recover and that they shouldn't want to. it is also because my brain so completely rejects the kind of self-image issues and delusions that go along with Anorexia and other eating disorders. I can't understand it to begin with, I certainly can't understand why peoplewould promote it.

I would say that this is new new 'Goth', except that I don't know any goths who ever *really* thought it was cool to be clinically depressed :p They just got to wear cool clothes and revel in the morbid.

've had to force myself to stop looking at those pro-ana communities. They make me sick to my stomach. The worse was one I stumbled across where the original moderator had been hospitalized because of her anorexia. They set up a separate journal to chronicle her recovery, the whole time the updater is relaying messages from this girl telling everyone to "be strong and keep starving." The last entry in the journal is that the girl hung herself in the hospital bathroom. And a lot of the comments on that journal were girls going on about how strong that girl was and what an inspiration she was.

These communities really are dangerous. I wish there was a way to stop them, they tell insecure young girls that their self destructive behaviour is a good thing.

Some evil part of me wanted to join and use a picture of Terri Schiavo as my icon, like so many of the use a picture of Ashley Olsen. When they ask about it, tell them that she's my inspiration, she was willing to starve herself until her heart stopped and caused brain damage.

Heh, I forgot I was using my friend's computer and accidentally posted this comment while he was still logged in. Should be careful about that. :)

My 'favourite' thing is how they will all have these disclaimers on their user info pages *claiming* that they do not advocate or encourage EDs... bu then under that there is a little banner that says 'nothing tastes as good as thin feels' or some shit. >:(

My brain can at least fathom the idea of eating more tasty things. But it is not cool to encourage people with mental disorders to be self-destructive. Or to be that extreme about anything really :o
