I went to Franklin's birthday yesterday, despite the fact that I was still tired and a little cranky. I brought little mini quishe, whichseemed to go over realy well. I had left-over dough from the pie I made at thanksgiving which I used for the shells, and then I referred to the good oldJoy of Cooking for a base recipe. I wound up putting garlic, green onion, and cheese in it. Since I only made twelve shells, I had filling left over, so I made myself a crust-less quishe in a suqare pan, which also turned out okay... despite me not having put it in the fridge last night. I feel like Mr Cat now ;) Stil, I'm not dead , so all is probably fine. I also made me a couple little apple turnovers with the left over pastry (yum... they got eaten pretty much as they came out of the oven) and a mini apple crisp with the left over apples! I had that for breakfast yesterday. It was pretty good, but the topping could have used more butter. I was totally winging that part.

Anyway, the party! It started aroun five... so I left my house at five, and peeked in at Eller (since the guys just live down the street, literally) on the girls there who were slaving away on their ship construction projects. Suckers ;) And then I continues on. Saw many second years, and some people I didn't know as well. The decorations were great... little tombstones and black baloons, and a headstone-shaped cake with Over the Hill... Franklin is actaully 37, but everyone teases him about being older, or being an old man. Other people turned up, there was general conversation and whatnot, and eventually burgers on the BBQ, and then the boat people (the girls from Eller, plus other folks in my year who were off working on the same project elsewhere) showed up and stuck around for a time. I think people mostly were having a good time. It was nice to see the ladies out socially, even if our other plans have been thwarted by their boat program (ohhh, I've been in this program too long. Thwarted by a boat indeed!) Oh yes. Adam, one of the two guys in my year, shaved his head! It makes me think of Andrew, both because he shaved it for pretty much the same reason, and since he was wearing all black, as part of the 'mourning' motif of the party. He said he was worried about getting beat up for being a skin head, so he had a little hat. It made me think of Harpoon ;) On a side note... I think he is seeing one of the second yers (Claire), but I'm not sure. I think I heard that somewhere, and I know she shaved his head, and I *think* they left together, but I was playin' x-box so I don't know! Not crucial information by any means, but I am too curious for my own good. The Eller house social dynamics are pretty crazy at times, you think a good Boggan like me could at least keep track of the *simple* things!

Anyway, I learned more about the exciting social dynamic of the second years... who is stalking who, and etc (eep!). And played some Halo. I am not great, but I don't completely suck ass. My problem is with aiming. I find the default setup of the controlers is really counterintuitive. If we'd been worrying about such details, I'd have liked to switch the move and look around ones. Still, I did alright, and have been invited to play more, when they have their hardcore gaming nights and are looking for more people. They don't happen all that often, since people are busy... but it was fun :) I'd do it again. Once agian, people were amazed that I swear. *rolls eyes*. I called Rochelle a tarty wench, and she burst out laughing and gave me a hug ;) She is really good at the game, and also merciless to poor newbies like myself ;)

Anyway, I got home around 3 or 3:30, depending on what clock I was looking at.I was really ful.. I pretty much went right to bed.

I did wake up about two hours later felling really crappy. I'm not sure if it was the cheap tequila or the lime mix, or combining both of those things with the all the party junk (including pieces of a chocolate pie that is, like 1/4 butter, and 1/2 chocolate chips -_-.... but yum!), but my system neded that voided even after I took some magic british stomach settling pills. I took abnother one after, and then went right to bed! It is weird. I don't drink often, but I have been sick twice, and both times it has been after having only one drink. The first time was after a viscious pink, and I blame the champagne. I thik it was the butter + cheap tequila + cheap lime mix combo that got me this time. Because I *know* tequila doesn't make me sick! Never never never! Lime does sometimes give me heartburn though.

Anyway, I woke up shortly after noon feeling fine, and refreshed and awake. I spent a lovely afternoon chatting and stuff with various folks. I found the cheap airfare to Cleveland for Bart's wedding (I always do this thing where I look at United Airlines instead of US Airways and promptly freak out because things are so much more expensive than I was expecting). I haven't bought the ticket yet, but I will do that this week, and then get back to Mary about the room. I'm thinking the 12th to the 15th. That would be three nights and almost four days, leaving the day after the wedding. I was only going to stay for two, but with super low room rate (*love Mary!*) plus cost splitting, I think I can swing an extra day :) That will get me home a day and a half before fieldschool. That's fine, right?

Just now, I got out of a bath, and got properly dressed for the first time today. Since I'm not planning on going out., I'm wearing my red Thai fishermen's pants and my green Scooby Doo shirt ;) This is like a track suit for me. I probably wouldn't have bothered getting dressed, but I don't have a bathrobe. :( I'd really like to get a nice one, but they are so expensive! I even asked for one for Christmas, but no luck... Anyway, I am planning on finishing off the pirate stew for dinner and having a big smoothie! Yum!

Oh yes, and I managed even to read two whole articles in my bath. Yay! Still gotta do more, but it is a good start.

I also should wash the rest of my dishes from my baking frenzy. I've done *most* of them, but they wouldn't all fit in the dishrack! ;)

The boat is done! Does dance of joy! You should come by Eller and see it, all the rudders are movable and everything. Tis pretty. If I remember to bring my camera, I'll take pictures and stick them up on the lj.

I went up to Eller when I was done at the library... there was no one around (no surprise there... it was close to four). There were no boats though! Boo! or at last, I didn't see them. Could be I'm blind. These things happen ^-^
