And next, I promise, a Perseity one for Lerah ;)
I actually managed to get a lot done today afterall. Wel, kind of. I went to see Dr. babits. He loaded me up with books that should be useful for my presentation. he also told me that usually when he does that lecture he'll just 'wing it'. greeeeat. I have a lot of things to consider, anywya. ethnicity is hard to pin down, but it *can* be a really useful concept for material culture... sometimes. Anyway. i have stuff, that is good.
I also went to the library to look at... suff. I have been trying to find where thay hide the early bOston newspapers (The Boston News-Letter, started in 1704, and the earliest paper released in America), and the Boston News-Letter, from about 1721 or 1724 (I forget -_-). I asked one of the people, and while she dissappeared on her personal quest, I managed to print about 10 pages of stuff of ultrafiche (like microfice, only smaller, or something...). When she found the papers, they were on Micro*print*, which is not even a film at all! it is more like the size of the tiniest print on the eye-tests that optomotrists administer to test you eye sight. Or maybe smaller. but it is really just tiy tiny print on large white cards. And you can't print form the machines. So, I spent a lot of time today cutting out snippets of articles abut pirates from early newspapers. That's productive, right? ;) To be honest they will not all be useful for my present paper, but there was more stuff on flags that I can use if I ever want to refine my thesis ;)
And now I am home, since the bees are acting up. I took some ibuprofen and had a glass of spiced apple cider, which tastes exactly like drinking apple pie filling. Yum!
And now, because I'm sure *some* of you are curious,
5ml or Port au Prince: Dark, decadent and incomparably exotic: the rich scent of buttered rum flavored with almond, bay, clove and sassafras.
6 imps:
Darkness:
The waves were dead; the tides were in their grave,
The moon, their mistress, had expir'd before;
The winds were wither'd in the stagnant air,
And the clouds perish'd; Darkness had no need
Of aid from them -- She was the Universe.
Bottled gloom; the essence of oblivion. Blackest opium and narcissus deepened by myrrh.
Inferno: The Dark Side of Fire: cinnamon, bitter almond, and neroli. Heavily spiced, torrid, and possibly conflagrant.
Dragon's Milk: A truly fae nectar! Dragon's blood resin and honeyed vanilla.
Snake Oil: By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla.
Crossroads: The forks of the road: an in-between place, sacred and tangibly magickal in innumerable cultures and faiths. This scent is dark with mystery, taut with power. A chill twilit garden of blooms over dry earth and mosses, heavily laden with incense and offertory herbs.
Coyote: The Native American Creator / Trickster God of Chaos and Change. The warmth of doeskin, dry plains grasses and soft, dusty woods warmed by amber and a downy, gentle coat of deep musk.

Imps are 3$ each, or 6 for 16$. 5ml botle are generally about 12.50 each, though some of the special or limited edition ones are more. Since they are all essential oils, a little goes a long way, and you can mix them with different carrier iols or what have you to make them last longer. The forums are great for that sort of stuff :) There is all sorts of crazy crap on there ;)
Have fun :D

So far I am being tempted by these:
BLOOD ROSE
Sensual, robust, and silken: voluptuous red rose bursting with lascivious red wine and sultry dragon's blood resin.
CENTZON TOTOCHTIN
The Four Hundred divine rabbits of the Aztec pantheon that preside over parties and drunkenness. Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood.
CHIMERA
The fiery, volatile scent of cinnamon, thickened by myrrh, honeysuckle, and copal.
