So, I have managed to get many of my weekend goals met. Yes, granted, some of them were not time consuming or challenging, but still! And I;m not done yet! I could finish the book for Carl's class tonight, but I don't think I will. I think I'll leave it for tomorrow, so it will be fresher in my mind. IN fact, my brain is a little fried today - I'm having trouble concentrating on stuff, so I'm not sure what I *will* get done of the harder stuff. I did go though some more of my books, and I did some looking on the internet for stuff... I don't know how I'm goign to get some of the stuff I need, like Nathaniel Uring's Journal. I'll try ILL, but I'm not holding my breath :/ Say,Julie, how hard is it to order PRO records? How much time/money do you need, and can it even be done? I ask you because I recall you had to do something similar for you MA.. Am I on crack? Or maybe even for work. Well, anyway, if you do know, it would be keen if you could tell me ;)

I haven't started looking at the ethnicity stuff, but I'm going to to spend more time on that tomorrow, I think. I want to have an idea of what I'll be doing so I can talk to Dr Babits on Tuesday abvout it, and maybe my project. I thik I will ask if there is enough stuff to look at to maybe write on Surgeon's tools, or a specific class of surgeons tools, maybe on Royal Navy ships. Hmmm... See, I'm taking this class because I *don't* know anything about the maritime material culture... And I want to! So, I'll see what can be done :p Anyway, I'll see if I can talk to him about the ethnicity thing on Tuesday too, and kill two birds with one stone :) So there! I have good excuses for not finishing most of the stuff that is on my list ;) And I can take back my library books tromorrow too :) All is good. Productive weekend achieved! I even was playing with my music stuff tonight, which was fun, though I pity my neighbours. And I should really put that stuff away and figure out where my other bookshelf is going, since my futon is coming tomorrow!! Yay! That's a good project for tonight, too, since my brain isn't up to anything more involved...

Also, I will note that today's session of Perseity was really awesome, even if my characters best friend was killed ;_; I was totally crying at various points :( and happy at other. It was an emotionally involved session, anyway, which I tend to consider a good thing :)

Order PRO (sorry, "National Archives") stuff is easy - there's a form on their site. These days they prefer to send high-quality digital scans of documents rather than photocopies, and that's more convenient anyway, I find. I don't think it takes very long - maybe a week or ten days for the initial estimate, and then once you pay, they email the documents as attachments very quickly. The cost varies from document to document... one that I requested for my MA was like twenty pounds, another more like seventy (I didn't wind up ordering the ridiculously expensive one, it wasn't worth it). Hope that helps :)
