hee! Isn't it funny? YOu know what is more insane? The *pipes are frozen* in my laundery, nd only one machine is currently working. how crazy is *that*? People in my building have frozen pipes to, so I was told I shoudl keep water running. It's a whole... O degrees celcius (32 f). Yes, it is just *barely* at the freezing mark. What the hell? o_O

Odds are their insulation and piping isn't as thick/effective because it isn't made for that kind of temperature. Materials and construction are taken into account... and if it's likely never to be needed (overcautious, effectively), no one's going to spring for the more expensive and totally safe option.

“Snowfall amounts of 1/2 to one inch will be likely in the Greenville area”.

...and there's a n alert? Bloody hell, and I thought we Brits worried too much about snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until 7 p.m. for Pitt County and the surrounding area. Snowfall amounts of 1/2 to one inch will be likely in the Greenville area.

BWAH HA HA HAH HAH.

No, actually, pretty much every state south of the Mason-Dixon line is a huge wuss about snow.

Including me and mine. ;p

When I first moved to Kamloops, BC from the east coast, the radio announced severe weather conditions--a blizzard--about every fifteen minutes. People were warned to keep off the roads, and that the city would be shut down.

We got maybe two inches of snow.

This was nothing to us, but for people who are not used to driving on snow, it is a very big deal. There were many car accidents.
