I am makikng a quick update because I should be in bed! not that I have to get up for anything tomorrow, but I have had much less sleep than I need over the past few days. Whoops!
Friday: Tour of some nearby battlefields (Marsten Moor and Towton), plus special tour of the Royal Armouries, oooooh, I got to handle the *big* guns ;) Then to sheffield, pubstuff in Hilsborough Hotel, saw many folks, including Phil, Phil, Matt, Hugh, Meghan, Annie, Mickie, Becky, Adrian, Ken....and other (Breifly, Edy, but she was leaving as I arrived :/ ). Met some new folks, including Emily, and also an Adam who I may have seen around before but I can't recall, sorry :/ Also, my sister, who came up for Batfink. Went to matt's to get ready for fink, then to Fink, which was really ace! (This is how you can tell I've been in England too long, if that is possible: my speech patterns are changing again ;) Much much much dancing. The crashed at Phils.
Saturday: many train adventures to get back, including waiting ten minutes in the wind and rain at a tram stop when I shoudl have remember that it was just as easy to go on and walk from a closer station. Train hit a tree, was muchly delayed for various and sundry reasons, and didn't get back to youro until 9:20 or so. Left at about 7:30 :p Conference papers were keen. Came back to House of Dixon, read a bit, then went to the local in the evening for random chatting with my kind and generous hose :)
Sunday: Went to morning confeence session. Missed half the sessions trying to to sleep, but it wasn't as exciting as I was hoping anyway. Drove to Sheffield, slept in the car. Got dropped off at Blake street. Met B, was stuffed full of biscuits and tea, saw Phil and Emily as well as tim, Liz, and associated Laycock family types, stayed for a good 6-8 hours or so, was still sad to leave. It was so nice to see people....
I'm going to be soo sad to go back to greenville on Tuesday. I'll miss everyone all over again. I've been spoiled for good company for the past month, with hazel, Kumar, Rogan, and all the others. GV means a distinct lack of social life for me, and hitting the books again right away. I am sad :( My classmate claim that this term we will try to get together more, but I will believe it when I see it :p I will do my part though. It is odd that I am the one from the group with the most social stamina. I would never have thought of myself that way. hrm.
Watch me go to bed! First I brush my teeth though. If, as Ken said, I lost a stone dancing at batfink, I'm sure I put it back on again this afternoon at Blake st. ^-^ Mmmm, chocolate biscuits....
