So, I am reading Sharp. And then he goes over somethign in a paragraph that we learned in class on Tuesday, which I thought was amusing (the fact that a single naval warship can expel more iron in a single broadside than an army in an entire battle, in case you are wondering). And now, they are harping about the whole 'women beign bad-luck' superstition. I wonder if it didn't serve to keep men away from the woman in question, and acted as kind of a backwards protection to her person/virtue? Also, I'll note that the captain in the book says the whores don't count ;)
