Note: I started this entry back when I was in an 100% better mood. In other news, I just fired off the following e-mail to the customer support people. It is probaby a little more flippant then I would have wrotten if I were not in a cranky mood because of their shitty service and my inability to organize myself in a way that would let me have any kind of an enjoyable evening. Even things I usually like are filling me with cynecism and dissapointment. *bitter* Where are my man-whores and liquor, damnit. >:p

I am wondering if you would like to really prove to me what excellent customer support you have, and how much you would like to care for your clients and to prove that we, and our business, are valuable to you? How can you say no to that, now really?


First off, I am located at Tar River Estates in North Carolina. I don't know if you keep records of these things or not, but we have kind of a history here of unstable connections (for mysteeeerious, unknown reasons), compounded by the fact that your people don't have after-hours access to the server. That means that if it is somethign that they even *can* fix, they can't do it until the office is opn, so that if it goes down in the evening, we've got nothing. Which, you can imagine is not entirely satisfactory. But that is not why I am writing today!


I am an avid user of IRC. However, ever since I started using your service, I have not been able to maintain a stable connection. I'll be in the middle of a conversation, and sudenly will stop receiving imput from the rest of the network, and unless I disconnect and reconnect (Which is more than 'just an anoyance', I assure you, since it is incredibly frustrating and breaks up the flow of things), will get dropped off entirely. This usually happens right when I am in the midle of doing something, during 'peak' hours on evenings and weekends. I haven't written in about this before because, well, there have been so many other things to worry about first! However, it is really getting to the point where I am considering giving up on your service entirely, and switching over to a DSL provider.


Now, I am told that the reason for this is that certain ports are prioritized over others, and that the ones used for chat programs like IRC (in this case, port 6667, since it is the one that is open here) are a low priority. I can't imagine that there is really all that much traffic on that port, either (though you would know better than I). Can you do anything to stop me from getting kicked off like this? Because I would really prefer *not* to have to switch providers, and if you can fix this one little issue, then that would probably be the one thing that would convince me to stay.
