I am at the library. I met the proff I am TAing for, and he is pretty cool. It seems like I will mostly be doing reguraly TAing stuff, but he said if I want to teach a class or two I can. I think I will ask about doing a lecture on the relationship of history and archaeology. I am supposed to meet with him on Wednesday at the ungodly hour of 8:00 am. Thankfully it is only a ten minute walk from where I live. ^-^

Anyway, since I was here at the library, I thought that what I would do is to start compiling a list of books that I am going to want to look at... as well as checking to see what books that I have come to consider as standard books for studying piracy that I don't have. And they don't have Snelgrave. This is dissapointing, and also kind of surprising! It's a historical account of a slave voyage, and they are all into that crazy slave trade crap here. On the other hand, it's kind of obscure, and also expensive. The only place I have found it anywhere is direct from the publisher, for $114 US! Well, okay, that's not maybe so expensive for the library, but it is expensive for *me*!. I have decided that I need to have it, though, because they don't here and it is such a great book, for my own library. Not so much for the slavery bits, but for the second part that is all about how he was captured by pirates, including my favourite captain, Howell Davis.

Anyway, the point is, it can be ordered here and it is my birthday coming up in October! ^-^ Not that I think that any one of you should buy it for me, but if there are people who are thinking "Hey, I should get Heather a present..." and don't know what to get, maybe a bunch of people would want to chip in or something ;)

Otherwise I'll just have to budget carefully and buy it myself, hmmm...

Oh, and they only have Jameson (Privateering and piracy in the colonial period - illustrative documents) as a microform -_-
Mood:: 'greedy!' greedy!

Out of curiosity what is the actual name of the Snelgrave book?

Your link just brought me to a general page.

A New Account of Guinea and the Slave Trade, I believe... just do a search for his name under author. It's the only one.
