Look at me, making an attempt to post more regularly and stuff. Again. We'll see how this goes?

There is a meme thing going on where people give you topics to post about in December. I could give that a shot - that might lead to more regular updates, as long as no one is expecting a novel from me on any particular issue. The way it works is that you pick a day in December, give me a topic, and I will write something on that topic on that day. One per day. And hey - if you give me a short prompt, maybe I can do a drabble instead, because I make my own rules internets! So a post or a drabble a day. Maybe I can lure in people to give me prompts at this late hour that way >.>

Claimed days with topics/prompts will go here )

In other news - I have been working a lot on my Yuletide story, and I think I can pull off what I am going for. If I knuckle down I can maaaybe even still get it done this weekend? Which will leave me lots of time for my pinch hit and maaaaybe treats? I definitely want to do YUMADRIN drabbles for that as well, but I may leave them until after the official deadline.

Other than that - I wound up going to Thanksgiving with gradschool friends, after politely (I hope) turning down an earlier invitation to eat with some friends and people who I didn't know and who were younger than me, which I was really not feeling up to. My desire to engage with strangers in person is rapidly diminishing, possibly proportional to the amount of people I already know who are around to do stuff with, which has increased of late. anyway. the spread was fantastic - I brought coconut craisin cookies and rosemary feta mashed potatoes. The hosts made smoked turkey, from-scratch green bean casserole (I watched M make the mushroom soup, it looked amazing), that American sweet potato+marshmallow thing, gravy, cranberry sauces (canned and homemade), homemade rolls... There was also a corn pudding, brussels sprouts sauteed with pistachios, 2 kinds of dressing, 4 pies (3 of which involved alcohol, I believe), and an apple crumble. I feel like I'm forgetting something, as well. Everything was amazing. I also got to watch almost all of the mst3k Turkeyday Marathon, partly at home with [personal profile] naryrising and [personal profile] longpig via skype, and then later as it was being streamed at J&M's place. We decided that 6 wasn't enough, and wound up watching Final Sacrifice on our own after it had ended. Good times!

I think that's all I have to report of note - I did send my story off to the She Walks In Shadows submission thing. They say I should hear back sometime early in the new year, but we'll see... I suppose the advantage is that even if they don't take it, it is now whittled down to be short enough to submit to other places as well... Most seem to have a cut off of about 5000 words. I am still sad that I *almost* found a home for Soul Proprietor, but in the end they didn't take it :( I should probably work more on original things? But for now - yuletide awaits my attention!
