Travel went smoothly, though I was oddly nervous passing through customs. I misread something on my form and copied in something wrong and it threw me off, but I didn't actually get any trouble over it. One of my plans actually left early!
My taxi driver sang all the way here (and despite the fact that they use vans for taxis, I was the only passenger he took, so I didn't have to wait, yay!), so I gave him a nice tip. I'm staying at the same place as last year (Towne Hotel) in nasau, so I know where most stuff is. I was going to wander out for food but I decided just to order from the hotel bar. Yum grouper! I'm almost finished reading The Oracle's Queen finally as well, and I'll probably do that tonight.
I also need to look over some of my other notes. I have a meeting with Dr. Tinker tomorrow, who is the head of the Antiquities, Museums, and Monuments Corporation (errr, its got all those words, possibly in a slightly different order). I want to talk logistics, about things like curation and permitting and possible government support. Who knows how it will go. I want to know who he is, and for him to know who I am: yay networking. I didn't get to meet him last year - the archaeology peeps were all exceedingly busy. I barely got to meet with their staff archaeologist, who is off working on his own PhD this year. So anyway, I have hopes for that.
I have just had my dinner - I probably should have gone for something better elsewhere, but I'm laaazy. I was thinking of running down the street to the ice cream parlour (mmm hagendaaz) but I think it'll be closed. Probably for the best, as it is also kind of expensive. Instead, back to my room and books!
